I always try to be chivalrous (opening doors, picking up things that theyve dropped, giving up my window seat on a plane (yes its happened, twice), etc).
However many women seem to think im just being a try hard, or trying to get into their pants. Which is not the case.
Regardless, i will continue to do it.
contrary to popular belief chivalry is not dead.
there is a difference between chivalry and chauvenism.
Going to ends to make life easier or to show kindness to a woman isn't being condescending. It's our way of showing you we like you, and would like to take care for you.
Then again it's context and point of view. but that's what i do, and i don't think of women any less. hell i adore women.
Generally I'm nice to people I meet. If you're nice to them they're usually inclined to be nice to you. On the internet it really doesn't matter though. People will always be jerks here. It's more entertaining this way to be honest.Ace6301i've always experienced the exact opposite. if you're nice to someone it either makes them think they can try taking advantage of you or it creeps them out, lol. tbh you'll be better off just not being nice to anyone.
[QUOTE="SkylinePigeon"]1) Seriously the sandwich joke has been played out for years, no one is laughing anymore VanHelsingBoA64SERIOUSLY. Jesus Christ, every time I hear a "women in the kitchen" or "sandwich" joke it just shocks me how much people can beat a dead horse. This is true, we need new sexist jokes.

Everyone here is pretty nice. Maybe the Canadian's are polite stereotype is truthful. That said I've never had a problem with people being on my bad side for too long, I'm probably a better jerk than I am a good guy but it's more proper to be nice.[QUOTE="Ace6301"]Generally I'm nice to people I meet. There is a huge difference between being nice to people and being a pushover. You have to know when to out your foot down.[QUOTE="Ace6301"]Generally I'm nice to people I meet. 1) Seriously the sandwich joke has been played out for years, no one is laughing anymore AND 2) Why not just be nice (chivalrous) to everyone. I mean, honestly. Use your manners and hold doors open for people because you are a good person, not to score points with women. And if you decide not to do those things, blame it on yourself. Feminism isn't responsible for how you act.SkylinePigeon
Words of wisdom, right here.
Also, seriously guys, the sandwich and kitchen jokes aren't funny anymore. Find new sexist jokes, or just throw them away all together if you're just going to beat a dead horse.
I would continue living just as I am now... A quiet guy who tries to be nice but minds my own business.
Same here and Im married :? some women just think too much of themselves I think, clearly me offering to help with a heavy bag actually means Im going to jump you at any minute.I always try to be chivalrous (opening doors, picking up things that theyve dropped, giving up my window seat on a plane (yes its happened, twice), etc).

Too late. I already try to be kind in my day to day life. Feminists have no bearing on how I conduct myself.
I'm chivalrous with or without feminists. Feminists don't bother me. In fact, I consider myself to be a feminist (although, from an individualist standpoint).
they are called chauvinist, i know, yet another area where females get the better treatment. Why aren't there any maleinists :(

how i seee it is a just treat them as my fellow men inless i like em then ill go an extra mile. i dont get it . women want to be equal yet they want to be treated better then men. the way i see it im just spreading the equalitiy by treating them like i treat everything else. if they all want to be treated better fine, but dosent that go directly against what rights they have been figfhting for years back.
I'm that way now. :|
Just because there is a group of women who won't be satisfied by men's chivalry no matter what men do doesn't mean I can't live up to my own standards of chivalry.
Pretty much sums up my view on the matter.I'm that way now. :|
