As we all know, people with relatively fast metabolisms can eat just as much food as people with slower metabolisms, but manage to weigh less, even if they don't exercise. This implies that at rest, a person with a relatively fast metabolism burns energy at a faster rate than someone with a slower metabolism. Doesn't this mean that a person with a faster metabolism uses energy less efficiently? I mean, using more energy to do nothing is certainly less efficient. Perhaps in today's world in which there is an over abundance of food and Humans don't have to hunt, this trait is a good thing because it prevents obesity. However, in ancient times, when Humans had to hunt for food, which made it more scarce, it would have been a bad trait as fatal starvation would be more likely. Anyhow, what do you think of this phenomenon?
