Agalloch is awesome. So is Becoming the Archetype.

What's BtA under. I'm more of a power metal (Sonata Arctica, Dragonforce) fan.

Then Becoming the Archetype isn't for you probably, which is sad. They're Death Metal, but what makes them great is that they're Christian. They're great musicians, too and have amazing music. 

Korn is nu metal. *Throws up violently*tzar3

Worst bands ever. period. Its bands like these that give metal a bad name.

lmao people that still listen to old metal, aka metallica, AC/DC, GNR, etc are either older people that lived through those bands or losers/nerds that are weird. The end. I think Metallica was amazing for their time, but come on its time to move on

And if you think Killswitch Engage is terrible, shoot yourself. And you saying Trivium is a bad band yet Metallica isnt is laughable because Trivium is now trying to be the "new" metallica in sound.

The majority of those bands mentioned are either Nu-metal, which is complete rubbish imo, or Hardcore and all highly over rated. I never said Trivium were trying to sound like Metallica, nor do I really care if they are trying to anyway. I will not waste my time listening to their rubbish. 

With so many posts, all of the bands I would recommend have probably already been said... so I'll just QFT everything. :DSandro909

Most of the posts were about people arguing about Rush's "metalness". You should proceed with your bands.

I don't see where you're getting that from. I have tried LTE and other prog bands. I don't like them, but I respect them as musicians. If that makes me an elitist, I guess we all are.

How can you respect a musician if you think they 'suck'?

Because I respect that the music they play is above what I can play, and takes some talent. I think it sucks still.

Just say it that way, Trivium is another Avenged Sevenfold wich I categorized into LOSER metal.

To the guy that said that old metal like metallica are losers and weird screw you, those bands are way better than your metalcore emo, mindless screaming music. I like the good stuff like Judas Priest and Maiden.tzar3

It's what my teacher tells my class at the start of every year. You should really go by it as well.

These are accurate and if you know the bands and their influence in the making of metal what it is today, you just have to agree with him. 

I'm a metalhead and don't worry I stick to my opinion and I almost never follow an ideology if I don't share the same idea. His thesis is accurate and I say it again. The chart that I shown to you was about the root of metal and like or not a lot of influences of metal are comming from different style.

My whole F***ING point was only to prove peoples to be wrong about the whole metal hate. They probably listen to metal music without even knowing it. I was right but the whole bunch of idiots were simply comming back at it saying I was not right. Wich is obviously not the case.

Rush is the biggest influence into progressive metal and they were part of it for quite sometime. Geddy Lee itself admitted that on Hanbanger's Journey. So please just stop saying I don't know what I'm saying. Rush is my favorite band and I know that they are unique in genre, BUT their roots are metal. Even if you say that now they are a hard rock or rock band, they still got albums like fly by night, caress of steel, 2112, a farewell to kings that are metal.

I don't listen to it, unless you would like to call bands like Nick Drake, Elliott Smith, mewithoutYou, ect.. Metal.

But hell, by your reasoning, everything is metal. You may think cLOUDDEAD is metal for all I know.
