So is there any good metal without the dudes shouting and all? I just listened to an In Flames song, Dead End and I was like "yeah this actually sounds pretty good" with the womans voice and then some dude comes in and ruins it?!:?

I just wanna know if there are any bands that are not so insane on the vocals, something similar to Metallica, the lead singers voice is not that bad.

Recommendations please. :)

if you want thrash...some of these you may already know, but going ahead anyway Slayer Megadeth Exodus Testament Bonded by Blood Municipal Waste Kreator Overkill Sodom Destruction Machine Head (some will say it's not thrash, but whatever) some of the vocals are a bit gruff, but it's more yelling than growling/screaming. if you're open to things beyond thrash Nevermore Mercenary Symphony X Primal Fear Katatonia Evergrey High on Fire Mastodon (a little gruff on the vocals, but not quite the screams you dislike, for the most part) these last few bands are entirely sung/clean vocals, more or less. I recommend Nevermore in particular, as i don't know a single metal fan who doesn't like Nevermore.

Lacuna Coil are pretty good... although they have two vocalists and, whilst the woman is good, the guy needs to just shut up.

I'd suggest Scandinavian metal-Dream Evil, Hammerfall, Primal Fear, and many more besides, as well as most cIassic metal.

i can't edit my post for some reason, so double post it is. I mentioned Mercenary in particular since they really have that Scandinavian death metal epic sound, but they're heavier on the singing, and for the most part, where there would normally be screams, they use falsetto stuff instead.

Mastodon. Aggressive and gruff, yet bassy vocals that are not quite screaming. I enjoy them greatly and can't stand screaming/growling.

Just avoid their latest album, Unia, which is totally different from anything they've done lately and, imo, much crappier

Ugh. Could never get into Hammerfall. At all. if German power metal is on the table though, i'd mentioned Primal Fear already, but i'd also add Helloween.

Though I am indifferent to their lyrics, the melodies they employ are quite good. And I'd also mention the Scorpions (even though I'm not sure they're technically "metal") and Accept. Both are stellar bands.

to TC, I'd be careful with this list. there's a lot of good stuff in there, but a lot of it is also pretty experimental or progressive and as a result, pretty hard/challenging to get into, to say the least. I listen to a lot of music, and there's a few bands on that list that even I can't get into.

Alright guys, some good bands you all mentioned. These are the ones I'm interested in, any albums I should be weary of?CBR600-RR

I'll just give album recommendations

Megadeth - Rust in Peace, Peace Sells But Who's Buying, the System has Failed (for newer, yet not crap, stuff)

Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast

Dream Theatre - Train of Thought, Metropolis Pt 2 Scenes from a Memory

Symphony X: the Odyssey, the new one Paradise Lost isn't bad either. No bad albums from them really, though V is harder to get into

Slayer: Seasons in the Abyss, Reign in Blood, South of Heaven (for a bit slower)

Testament: Practice What You Preach (for older style), the Gathering (for newer). The new one, Formation of Damnation, isn't too bad. Just know that the older stuff has less gruff vocals

Bonded by Blood: they only have one album. rules though

Municipal Waste: Art of Partying, newest album, is the best

Overkill: don't listen to enough overkill, but no particularly bad albums. they're renowned for putting out the same album again and again.....

Nevermore: This Godless Endeavour, Dead Heart in a Dead World, Politics of Ecstasy and Demise

Primal Fear: Seventh Seal, new one "New Religion" isn't bad

Katatonia: Viva Emptiness, latest cd isn't bad either

Evergrey: Recreation Day, Inner Circle (concept album!)

Hammerfall: don't know enough, as I don't like them

Sonata Arctica: Silence

Mercenary: The Hours that Remain

particularly good songs

Megadeth: Holy Wars

Iron Maiden: Hallowed Be Thy Name

Symphony X: Inferno

Slayer: War Ensemble

Testament: Envy Life (old), More than Meets the Eye (new)

Bonded By Blood: Immortal Life

Municipal Waste: sadistic magician

Overkill: Bats in the Belfry

Nevermore: My Acid Words

Primal Fear: Rollercoaster

Katatonia: My Twin

Evergrey: Recreation Day

Hammerfall: again, don't know

Sonata Arctia: Wolf and the Raven

Mercenary: REDEFINE ME!!!!

happy youtubing ;)

Umm, I would totally call Machine Head and Trivium metal, and the others are vaguely in the area. They aren't that heavy sure, but I think that the list could be a lot worse (Just ignore Bullet For my Valentine)

Most of what he said is Metalcore. Whether you want to admit it or not, Metalcore is a subgenre of... Guess what; Metal!

Nothing against Death Metal or anything...but how can you stand that stuff.....For a while now I've been trying to get into Death Metal, but I can't see the appeal. The vocalists sound like they're throwing up, and the lyrical content is weird and disturbing.

just the 'Gutteral" vocalists, maybe you would prefer the more High pitched BM style screams, i.e Wintersun, Old COB, DEATH! the lyrical content is basically for shock value

[QUOTE="lonewolf604"][QUOTE="sAndroid17"] just the 'Gutteral" vocalists, maybe you would prefer the more High pitched BM style screams, i.e Wintersun, Old COB, DEATH! the lyrical content is basically for shock valuesAndroid17
The only thing close to Death I can take is Underoath (yes yes I know they aren't really death metal. the vocals are more tolerable for me)

oh well, you should listen to Death, everyone should1!!~~!#

I disagree-I prefer power metal, thrash, and cIassic metal, myself :P
