So, Metallica's new album has been named, track list revealed and release date given (Sep 12th)

You see a familiar track name on the list? Unforgiven III? I wasn't that keen on Unforgiven II on Reload so this only tells me that sequels never work in film or in song.

So who thinks this album will be a good comeback or an epic fail for Metallica? Personally, I think Metallica will never regain their past glory.

Well, considering everyone is stuck in the past, still waiting for Master of Pupets Pt. 2, I don't know how well recieved anything Metallica makes from now-on will be. Personally, I can't wait for it to come out. James got his voice back, they have a bassist this time around, and they don't all want to kill each other.

Yeah, I to hope would like to see a great album from them. Just listening to ...And Justice for All and the opening riff on Blackened. Could they ever regain this type of musicianship again? I doubt it but as I said, would like to see it happen.

You got that right. Black Album was the last quality album they made. The rest is a joke with the exception of a few songs.

I love Metallica, although their recent albums haven't been great. Load was actually a decent album, just not for Metallica. Load and Re-Load were both better than they're given credit for, it's just it's not up to par with Metallica's work. St. Anger was flat-out bad.

I think Death Magnetic will be a good album, but there is no recapturing their 80's magic. Here's to hoping Metallica can surprise all the cynics! :D

"Load" and "Reload" were both great albums. And "S&M" was a fantastic live album.

Wow, way to read a book by it's cover.

Come on, that sounds perfect for a mainstream rock band album or single, I remember I reacted the exact same way when I heard of Children Of Bodom's "Living Dead Beat", both names sound like they're going to feature some techno catchiness for good measure.

And I'm not judging this book merely by it's cover, I'm taking into account the fact that the last one was complete garbage, St Anger took away what little faith I still had that Metallica might get back to their former glory.

I just can't stand the whole "They don't sound like 1981-1990 Metallica, so they suck." Being that closed-minded about music makes you miss out on a lot.

St. Anger was a mess, that doesn't instantly mean this one will be. Wait to here some music from it before passing judgement like that.

Oh no that's not why I don't like it. The Black Album was completely different from 80s Metallica, and truthfully I only really liked Ride The Lightning and the Black Album, I just found the sound on the later albums to be bland and uninspired when compared to Black Album and Ride the Lightning. And I'm not much of a thrash metal fan, I'm more into the melodic side of Death Metal and Black Metal and the various sub genres. I know the later albums of Metallica were heavy metal and hard rock but the overall sound just didn't do much for me. If that makes any sense.

Yeah you're right. It's just hearing that almost poppy album title coupled with the memory of what a mess St Anger was is definitely not a good omen, to me at least...

I'd like to see them release something with the same angst and energy level that Kill 'em All through Justice had. But I doubt they're going to deliver that. I'm expecting a bland album, to be honest. Unforgiven III? Seriously?! *face palm*

I really don't care what other people think of Metallica. I'm picking this album up no matter what. I'd love to see them in concert. I know it's not going to be their glory days, but there is still hope for a rocking album. Nobody can judge it until they have heard it. All these people on here saying it's going to suck, are idiots. You haven't heard it. That would be like me saying *enter popular mainstream band here's* new album is going to suck. I haven't heard it, so I wouldn't know.

My biggest beef with Metallica is that they, in essance, became what they were so against in their early days. They don't even care if their albums are any good anymore, because they know that whatever they put out will sell, good or bad, simply because they're Metallica. And that kind of sentiment I have no respect for. All that said, if Death Magnetic *cringe* is any good, I will be picking it up. However I refuse to have any blind loyalty to ANY band, if Megadeth put out a piece of crap like St. Anger I'd be just as pissed, but they didn't. And if Metallica doesn't want to be flat out embarrassed by Megadeth, then they'd better step their game up, I heard a clip of one of the songs left off of UA and it was AWESOME, like Peace Sells quality, and rumor has it it will be on the next album.

Well looking on the bright side, they set the bar really low on St. Anger so how much worse can Death Magnetic be? Hopefully not worse :p

Dang, that's a little much isn't it!?!?

I may get the new album, would have to hear some of it first though.

EDIT: I think people are still mad St. Anger, but that was 5 years ago. Most times around if a band takes 5 years to make a record it means it's going to be pretty good. Look at Tool they take 5 years to make albums (3-5 years) and there always ****cs or Rage Against The Machine took 4 years from there first album to there second and Evil Empire was really good.
