I prefer Metallica just for their old albums. They are amazing!
My favourite album is Ride The Lightning closely followed by Kill 'em All. My favourite Megadeth album is Peace Sells.
The New Metallica record is decent. If you havent heard United Abominations by Megadeth, you should pick it up. Its really good. I also heard that Megadeth are going back in the studio this month to record some new music.Justice for all metalica
Rust in peace or count down megadeth.
The mega deth vocals are hit or miss. He does polaris really good but some other parts I'm like ick. But the new metalica stuff sucks and I haven't heard what megadeth is doing.

As for the question, they are both equal to me. Many times I have compared the records, and they are equal to me. Rust in Peace did what Black Album didnt, as with Master of Puppets did what Peace Sells... But Whose Buying? didnt. I would love to see both bands headlining Gigantour.
Metallica for only one album. Other than that, Megadeth is better without a doubt, question, or argument.
Fact. Nothing you can do about it. Period.

I would go see that. I could have went to this years Gigantour because I wanted to see MegaDeth,Children of Bodom and Job for a cowboy, but I couldent find any tickets.I would go see that. Maybe next time they come down to Australia I will see them.

[QUOTE="CreepingDeath_"]I'd love to see Metallica in Australia, just not at Big Day Out.

When was the last time they did a proper tour and not just perform like 3 songs at a festival?
Probably before I was even a fan.

About 2006. I do realise now that they definitely haven't done a proper tour since I've been a fan.
Sorry for the late response. We had a storm here and lost our power.
Metallica, but they're both amazing.
Megadeth's worst, however, is nowhere near as bad as St. Anger.

Ahh, you're only a younging to the band. I was introduced to them in 1999 (I was 6 years old lol) by a friend.
"You ever heard of Metallica?"
"Nup."
"Come to my house and listen to them. They are a good band."
"Okay."
While I was there I discovered Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Pantera.

Very true that. St. Anger has to be one of the worst albums to ever grace music.

You're lucky. I had to find out about good music from a magazine that I picked up just for the tabs. The music that I used to listen to is the music I would call "garbage" these days.

Yeah, if it wasnt for him I probably wouldnt be as much into metal as I am now. My parents are big Pearl Jam fans, so I would probably be more grunge/alternative rock orientated. Basically that friend was my metal source till around 2004 when we went to different high schools and I ventured on my own, discovering a lot more bands and sub genres, and even getting into different music like Progressive and Psychedelic.

Well I used to listen to pop punk and mainstream rap until a few years ago. I was just never exposed to any better music I guess.
I haven't listened to any of the bands I used to like a few years ago since then.

Well really there is nothing wrong with pop punk and rap, each does what its meant to do and appeals to its audience. Now the fact that its practically shoved down our throat day to day is a problem and is what irritates people I believe. Doesn't mean mainstream metal isnt any better. To find the real good metal, you have to search, which some people find annoying but I enjoy it. The internet is a lot more handy then back in the day when you had to trade tapes with someone in finlad just to get some different stuff and I have found that Gamespot is an excellent place to hear about bands that might interest you.

lol Well there you go. Internet is good something other than porn. Mind you some of that stuff like Nazxul and Astriaal will be hard to find since its really underground, but most of the other stuff you can just buy or download.

I'm not really into death metal and I realise some/most of those bands are death metal but I'll give them a listen anyway just in case I like them.
My favorite Metallica album is probably "Master Of Puppets", though working in the court system has made me appreciate "...And Justice For All" much more. Really Metallica's first four albums were all great, but I'd have to say "Puppets".
My favorite Megadeth album is probably "Rust In Peace", but I do like the more streamlined sound of "Countdown To Extinction". "Peace Sells..." is a good album and all, and the title track is one of my favorites in that sort of music, but I just don't think it can hold up to "Rust In Peace", which I think best shows off Marty Friedman's ability as a killer guitarist.
As for the bands themselves? I don't think either band has done anything relevant since 1988 and the early 90s ('92? whenever "Countdown" was made), respectively and I think the members of Metallica and Dave Mustaine are a bunch of DB's. But they made some good music along the way and if I hated bands because they were jerks, I'd have to stop listening to the Rolling Stones or Guns 'N' Roses or really most rock music.
