[QUOTE="kayn83"]Megadeth because they didnt sell out lolGreenmonsterBLS

megadeth didnt have the talent to sell out.

Mustaine>>>>>>>>>>>>Hammett

The talent to sell out? Talent has nothing to do with it. By selling out they became exactly what they SAID they hated so much in the first place, radio friendly, mainstream rock. THATS why so many Deth fans have no respect for them. I still hear Enter Sandman on the radio every couple of days.

ill admit that my favorite metallica riffs Mustaine did right, but the songs he wrote on his own were just terrible. I know talent has nothing to do with selling out or becoming popular. I was just cracking a joke cause I really dont like megadeth

After reading that again, I can see it was a joke.:P I just hate the whole Metallica is better because they are more talented argument, because thats not true, they are (as bands) equally talented, just, Metallica has released quite a few sub par albums since the 80s.

dude saint anger brought tears to my eyes. And like, dont think im joking either lol. But yeah i do think that megadeath is talented, they just really dont appeal to me at all and just really cant stand to listen to em.

I'm not very fond of Mustaine's vocals either. He always sounds really nasally.

What I always hated about Hetfield's later singing was he always ended his words with an "ah!"

ie. "you are...holier than thouAH!"

I don't really like that either, it's less annoying to me than Dave's singing though.

Both are great but Megadeth is better.

You shouldn't have posted this here. Pretty much everyone hears a Megadeth song off Guitar Hero and thinks that is enough to judge them by.

Juggernaut140
Hangar 18 is a good song though.

Metallica by far...I love the emotional Metallica solos (The Unforgiven is a perfect example). The only Megadeth song I can stand is Hangar 18.

[QUOTE="jachichorro"]Metallica>Slayer>Exodus>Megadeth>AnthraxJuggernaut140

Megadeth>Slayer>Metallica>Exodus>Anthrax

Exodus is another awesome band- I never could get into Anthrax.

But there is one thing to note about all the bands mentioned above, with the exception of one.

They were all there in the beginning, and they are all stayed true to form and are still doing what they believe in, except one.

If that one (Metallica) didn't try to artificially modify their sound for the sake of superficially "staying current", I believe they would be more popular than ever today. But no. Taste in music has almost turned full-circle (retro), and if Metallica didn't try to stay in the commercial limelight the entire time by consciously trying to change their sound over the years, I bet they would have been more popular than ever in today's climate, but what with their Napsterish greed which can clearly be reflected in their recent musical direction, they have really diminished their fan-base over recent years.

I love them both, but It has to be metallica.

They make 4 great thrash albums in a row, then a great hard rock album

Megadeth had 2 great thrash albums, but none of their other albums are anywhere near the quality (in terms of enough of strong tracks) as say Kill Em All or AJFA.

But who cares, they both kick ass andI enjoy tones of music from both.

My BIG 4 is Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Megadeth

Yeah ever since 1991, Metallica has been all about the money. They know that their fans will buy anything they put out, so they don't even put forth any effort into their recordings. DON'T GET ME WRONG I love Metallicas first few albums, but their new stuff is absoultely a slap in the face to any old school Metallica fan. I will say they tour CONSTANTLY though, which is cool, but they've been playing music from the same 5 albums for 15 years! They only play 2-3 songs from the 90s, and evertything else from the Black album back, its absolutely ridiculous. And anyone getting their hopes up for Death Magnetic needs to have their head examined. While Megadeth is getting old school again, Metallica is just going with more of the same. And one last thing...when it comes to instrumentals, Duke Nukem>>Orion:P

There's nothing wrong with a band adapting. If a band just keeps churning out the same album every two years (Nickelback, AC/DC, Disturbed, etc.) it starts to wear a little thin.

Megadeth. Both are equal in terms of quality of their music to me, but I kind of lost interest in Metallica after the whole anti-piracy ordeal, especially since they wouldn't be nearly as popular as they are today if it weren't for bootlegs, which is basically how they got famous :/

I agree that Nickelback's albums are all very similar, and AC/DC's to an extent, but I have to disagree with Disturbed. Their first album, Believe, had songs with a somewhat positive feeling, and the album didn't have a lot of screaming/rough vocals. They got darker with The Sickness, venturing into darker themes and increasing on the rough, gruff, growling and such. Ten Thousand Fists, my favorite of their albums, was similar to The Sickness, except the music had a much heavier sound, and their newest album, Indestructable, is extremely dark, but has almost no growling and such, as Draiman had to have throat surgery and he more than likely doesn't want to damage his vocal chords. ALL of Disturbed's music has a very distinct sound, and you can very easily identify that it's Disturbed, because they have a specific style, and Draiman has very distinct vocals. But their sound has definitely changed through the years.
