True enough, but goddamnit, the ESPN commentators are sooooo boring. At least the Spanish commentators yell for ANY team and add more excitement to what would be a rather boring game.supa_badmanThat is true. I would probably watch it if there were English subtitles.

yeah, they say soccer is gaining popularity in the US but...I dont see it lol.
only people I know that really follow it are preppy frat boys, and it has always been that way. Liking soccer is almost, dare I say...hipster? :P
Just kidding, its a great sport, but the US already has all its seasons filled with great sports. Sorry soccer, all full here, but don't despair the rest of the world loves you.

Tough road loss for the US, their defense was horrid. I thought they were going to get a rhythm after the 2-0 lead but they got burned on defense the whole game.

There are a lot of US "soccer" fans, with 350,000,000 people trust me. There are a lot. Anyway, best game in the world. #1 sport in the world. It's different when you're good at football.
Hope Mexico likes getting destroyed in Copa America.tagyhagThe 20 year old kids they're sending? As for tons of things to watch? Baseball is in mid-season, that's about it. Golf? Nascar? Tennis? There's nothing else to watch right now so i don't mind soccer.

soccer was my favorite sport to play but watching it? Not so much fun for me, but that is just my opinion. I have a lot of respect for the sport and its incredible athletes. I wouldnt exactly call it popular though, not relative to all the other great sports Americans enjoy.
that was a great match. i was worried when mexico went down 2-0 because it plays right into the usa's strategy, but mexico just has too much skill, technique all over the field. chicharito, guardado, barrera, and that goal by giovani dos santos was world class, the ball control and technique to chip it at the only place open in the goal was brilliant.
usa needs to get better defenders because they are really weak in the back, and a team that relies on counter attacking, having a terrible back 4 is suicide. i thought adu showed alot especially early in the game, i think he could be the heir to landon donovan, as far as best american player with actual skill and technique.
i think this is just the beginning for mexico, they really have alot of young talent along with chicharito, dos santos, guardado, barrera, there was still angel reyna on the bench that has as much skill and technique as the others guys mentioned, as well as christian "el hobbit" bermudez, marco fabian de la mora, cubo torres, ulises davila who are high skill quick players who will be playing in europe before long. and thats just forwards and attacking midfielders, on defense mexico has alot of young guys as well like gio's brother jonathan dos santos.

Doesn't care and never will.
Soccer is the one sport I am ok with America losing. In fact, I prefer it.

so thats the american way of thinking, were so good and above the rest of the world, we look down and discredit the sport everyone else loves because we suck at it and america can never suck at anything. if america is so great why not show, it and build up a soccer system that can improve the quality of players, the problem with usa soccer is that they treat it like any other american sport, they just look for the biggest strongest players to put out there and hope their physical prowess makes the difference, guess what, soccer is not that kind of sport, the best teams in the world have small players to average height players, with low centers of gravity, great skill and technique. the sad thing is that with america's big population, you think they could find plenty of young kids that are average height.

all our good athletes play real sports thats why[QUOTE="mems_1224"][QUOTE="TehFuneral"]probably should. then we cant stop pretending to care about soccer once every four years lol i didnt even know we had a soccer game going on thats cause it wasn't the world cup, just some worthless tournament or somethingAmerica should constitute a law that prevents creating a national football team.

Where did this come from? He, like many US citizens, don't care about soccer, so why would he care if a team loses? How does that translate to America thinking it's better than everyone? My girlfriend is indifferent to basketball and she doesn't care if the local team loses. Does that mean she thinks she's better than basketball fans?
AHH I love the generalization of America does not like soccer. When in fact it is groing vastly here in the states. Ohh to the poster who said we find strong physical players, well that shows in the World Cupp 4 years ago I dont see American players floppin all over the place. We like the physical contact it drives competitveness. But I guess you can like Mexico and any other floptastic team out tere.
