I got my Tostitos out. Let the games begin.
@Stevo_the_gamer: is any police response to a peaceful protest necessary?
Really? I could have sworn the first thing that occurred after the shooting were death threats to the police force, definitely not peaceful...

I'm watching a livestream and a cop just threatened to shoot the streamer if he didn't leave.
Ho-lee shit.
This about sums it up. Death threats are never okay, but the police are getting way out of line.
@ZombieKiller7: Mark wahlberg beat up and old guy and blinded him in one eye and was generally a racist little hooligan when he was a teen, so would he of deserved to be shot and killed way back then? Did Mark turn out to be a waste of human flesh? Maybe judging by his acting but you get my meaning.
If he was caught in the act and also decided to assault a cop AT THAT POINT IN TIME, yeah he probably would've deserve what came to him. I don't really care what someones future prospect might look like, I care about the present. You can be a straight A student with what could've been a great future, but if you are currently a threat to the people around you, doing dumb shit that seriously ruin yours or someone else life, and decide to resist being brought in by authorities (while being fully aware of what the consequences could potentially be for resisting) then no one should feel sorry for your ass if something goes wrong (Unless you have a medical condition) Your academic achievements should be thrown straight out the window.
Its like half-wittingly playing around with a king cobra snake with no prior training. You know exactly what will happen if it bites you, yet here you are fucking around with it. If you want to fool around with that snake like you indiana jones or something and end up getting bit, you have no one but yourself to blame for how things turn out...
In this situation, I do believe the cop was excessive and he may get prosecuted for it, but considering the situation was most likely created by Michael Brown due to his actions (which brought about that unfortunate but unsurprising result), I find it hard to feel sorry for him....
St. Louis County police said several protesters had thrown Molotov cocktails toward the officers before authorities shot tear gas toward them.
The violence escalated through the night as shots were fired toward police. Officers had to take up a defensive position behind vehicles.

Its never okay to throw fire molotovs at cops either. Shit tends to escalate from there which ending results that include a bunch of pissed of cops going Kanye West on a bunch of people pointing camera at their faces!
Honestly, both sides are out of control...
@tocool340: thinking about it I guess your right, but I still think the cop acted out of rage (as I read the cop sustained facial injuries in the struggle) and shot Brown when he was surrendering with his hands up.
Will we ever know the truth of what happened?
@Buckhannah: is it official that it is Brown in the video?
Since I saw the news about this yesterday, no. If anyone has definitive proof it is, by all means, show it.
So you're going with the evil twin theory? That someone in a city of only 22k people has the exact same build as Brown, was wearing the exact same clothes as Brown, and was with someone who also had the same build and clothing as Dorian Johnson? (Dorian has an evil twin as well????)
"Theory," you say. We will know from the investigation and trial.
@ZombieKiller7: black people in the ghetto already have a stressful life just with the day to day grind, add to that having people like you looking down on them and telling them they don't stand a chance of becoming a useful member of society, so pressure in the ghetto is already high, now add to that a incident like micheal browns shooting, the fuel to the flame now we have this massive explosion of violence emotion and voices wanting to be heard.
Not all black people in the ghetto are bad dude and it's not only black people that commit a bunch of crime in America.
Regardless of how you feel about Michael Brown's death, I think it's pretty safe to say that this police department/local government are pretty damn incompetent from top to bottom right? From the governor on down it seems like they don't have a clue on what they're supposed to do.
There was that one day of peace because the cops were treating the protesters with respect but then for whatever reason the next day the cops were back out there in riot gear tossing out tear gas for some reason.
Gotta say, either Governor Nixon is on top of things or he is over his head.
The dude is sending in the National Guard.
I told you it would get better.

Ferguson, Mississippi is hardly a ghetto.
Though I agree that race pimps like Al Sharpton turn everywhere into a "ghetto" so they can feed on the misery.
Let's face it, victimology feels alot better than owning your life.

No, you are wrong. The next night after the peaceful night, the cops stayed away and the animals broke into stores again, including the one that Michael Brown robbed the day he was killed. The night after that night is the night the cops returned. Get your facts straight please.

That's not true though, I've been watching streams of this every night.
The night after the peaceful night started out as a peaceful night and then shit got tense when the cops rolled in with their armored vehicles and only after that did the looting start. That night is when the protesters started out lined up against the cops in the street, the cops were yelling at them to disperse for a while, and then a bunch of idiots ran off to the side and started looting stores.

...don't tell people to get their facts straight when you clearly don't have your own in order. The night after the peaceful protesters where gassed, there was one peaceful night when the highway patrol took over. The night after that, the Ferguson PD was out again as another peaceful protest began. The cops brought in armored vehicles again, and set off a single tear gas canister. THAT is what started the chaos and caused some people to loot. This is all WELL documented by reporters and video/live streams.
Also, saying "the animals" in regards to the whole group of protesters is ignorant and again just plain racist. There were 5-10 people out of hundreds who looted. Those morons were then forced out of stores by more so called "animals" by people who began to protect the store front.
I mean look at these looting thugs! Oh wait...no, those people below who so many in this thread would label "thugs" and "gangbangers", or in your case "animals", were actually protecting stores.

First, I have my facts straight, gets yours in order. Second, I didn't call all the protesters animals, I said the animals started breaking into stores. Did all the protesters break into store? No, okay then (reading comprehension FTL). And there isn't shit racist about what I said. Stop trying to spread your ignorance.

"The next night after the peaceful night, the cops stayed away and the animals broke into stores again" never did you say only a few people looted stores. If that is what you meant than that is ON YOU to make that clear. But instead you just said "the animals" in regards to the protesters.
And don't say you have your facts straight when you clearly don't. The cops DID NOT stay away when the looting began again after the initial peaceful night. They were out in force (this is FACT, it was live-streamed and reporters on the ground were sending out constant updates). They were lined up and confronting the protesters and shot off a tear gas canister. When people started looting again they did nothing but sit and watch. It was peaceful protesters who stopped them.
Good stuff. Maybe Amazon should watch this (at least starting at minute 13...)

Not going to go back in forth with you. Your opinion is irrelevant to me vs what actually happened. You show no video to backup your claim. Like I said. The cops stayed out of it the night after the peaceful night and left everything to the protesters, which is why it was the protesters protecting the stores instead of the cops. Which is it kid? you can't have it both ways. Either the cops did their job or they didn't. I don't even know why I am bothering to have this conversation with you. Your opinion doesn't change what happened and we are done here. The cop that shot off that "ONE" tear gas was also removed from the scene. The whole time the cops just stood back and let what happen, happen. And I don't need to make clear what I said any clearer than it is. It isn't my issue that you didn't grasp what you read, that is your issue.

Double yawn.

Just two links but I could post a whole lot more. So yeah...keep acting like you know what is happening.
Even FOX NEWS backs this up:
"Looters in Ferguson, Mo., were met with little police resistance Friday night and store owners say they were forced to protect their businesses with their own guns, Fox2Now.com reported.
"I think the first message is to remind all law enforcement that they are hired to serve and protect and if they’re going to sit back and watch looting, they're not serving us; they’re not protecting us," Pastor Robert White told the station.
A reporter from the station tweeted that police cars were seen driving past some of the stores being looted and did not respond. It rained in Ferguson Friday night and protesters could be seen outside until 6 a.m."

So the Police Department is always wrong while the protesters are always just?
Well, some new info:
http://www.click2houston.com/news/autopsy-michael-brown-shot-at-least-6-times/27577754
There's a woman who called in and basically gave Wilson's side of the story. Who knows if it's true at this point but is interesting.
So the Police Department is always wrong while the protesters are always just?
LMAO, you show me where I said that and you get a cookie.
How about this, bear with me:
Police arrest the looters, bomb throwers, agitators and let the other protest in peace. Just arrest them, take them out of the equation.
tada

You would think that is what they'd do. But I think they either a) Fear arresting them might cause more unrest (even though peaceful protesters seem to think the looters are wrong) or b) They think letting the looters do their thing just hurts the peaceful protester's image and so let it happen (which I doubt is the case, though given their incompetence and actions so far, I wouldn't put it past them).
@CWEBB04z: If the guy is black, yes apparently. Soon as a white cop touches/questions a black person they claim brutality, discrimination, racism... It's gotta be hard for cops it really does.
But with this particular instance... Both sides are to blame. Brown is to blame for starting the confrontation and the cop is to blame for finishing it. With 6 body shots and two to the head.. so.. Yea. Idk Brown was a big dude would one headshot not have been enough?
According to the person who leaked the cop's story, the head shot was the last shot. She also said he was coming forward and basically walking through his shots and didn't go down until the head shot. Hearsay at this point obviously but there it is...certainly a plausible way and why there was so many gunshots.
Gotta admire the African Americans' pride to stand up and rally. You can't throw a book at emotions. If they feel some type of way, their is no convincing them with logic, rules, semantics, etc. Good. Love over law.
I can't stand people like Al Sharpton race baiting all of the time those days are over this is police brutality all over america. While Al Sharpton sits in his huge office looking like a half dead corpse people are trying to change things.
If a civilian receives death threats, proper measures are taken to make sure that the threats are dealt with. In the officer's situation, this is the best way of dealing with death threats. What's bullshit about death threats? If African American families threatened your life, you would cry like a baby and run to the police, asking them to protect you...
Or are you going to pretend to be an internet bad ass and act like the police have no justification in their decision?
The police are treated differently than a civilian. Whether or not you believe it is of no concern to me, Clearly, understanding reality isn't your strong suit. Stick with fantasy. There are plenty of precautions that could have been taken days ago before, today, releasing the name of the officer. The Police are held to one set of standards and civilians held to another. Using your "logic" why was the name revealed this morning?
Considering that a police officer can potentially invoke this situation just by doing their job...unlike civilians...it makes perfect sense to make an exception in these circumstances. The name was revealed because time has past, riots have calmed, and there's less heat-of-the-moment aggression. What difference does it make how much time has past since releasing the name? Surely they were going to reveal it eventually. Maybe that time during the name being withheld was used to deliberate how they will handle the situation.
Huge update:
"A Human Rights Crisis": In Unprecedented Move, Amnesty International Sends Monitors to Ferguson
After a week that saw a militarized police crackdown and the imposition of a nighttime curfew, Amnesty International USA has taken an "unprecedented" step by sending a 13-person delegation to monitor the developments in Ferguson, Missouri. It is the first time the Amnesty organization has deployed observers inside the United States

Meh, no more Tostitos left.
But it would be hard to deny a level of excitement or lets just say "adrenaline" on Chris Hayes voice when narrating what is going on.
Some of these are liberals who can't accept that they weren't around for the 60's and the Civil Rights Movement and would like to have their on moment to burnish their credentials.
A CNN commentator just identified the two persons responsible for throwing two bottles toward police and these two dudes were singled out by protesters and police noticed that it were only these two individuals trying to cause trouble.
The CNN commentator identify these to individuals as Anarchist or Communist.
