If the country got invaded then yeah.

I would do Marines(and follow in the footsteps of my father) or Navy.MgamerBD
Your father did Marines?
I'm considering it for after high school. I know a lot of people who go into it, and with the exception of my uncle who got drafted into Vietnam, they all said it was a great experience and that there's nothing quite like it. If I was to join, I'd prefer to get into the Air Force since that's what my father was in, but if I couldn't meet the requirements I'd go for Navy. Coast Guard always sounded cool, but they're too elite and tough to get into for my liking.
nope i have no interest in the military. It can be a pretty sweet deal though as they will take care of you and you do get to exp some cool stuff maybe? but i feel like if there's better things you could be doing with your life. Its a good option if your not sure what you want to do out of high school or if there's nothing going on in your life like your working a dead end retail job or something.
[QUOTE="BranKetra"]Nope. I'm not ready to join the system.Matthew-first
On second thought, I would join, but only if I could become part of FOXHOUND and work alongside the legendary Solid Snake.
due to my country's conscript law,I was called for Army most likely heavy support role or medic for my buff body but I defered because i'm in college.
No. F*ck em I won't play that game.MrPraline
The military is not for everybody most people are lazy and unorganized or can't follow directions. That is even if you are qualified.

Or just don't believe in the "wars" you are fighting.True, but that still doesn't change the fact that people who don't want to enlist because they don't agree with the conflicts the military fights are greatly outnumbered by people who are either lazy, unorganized, or can't follow directions. That doesn't even count the people who aren't even eligible to join if they wanted to.
Good luck with the (US) AF. It's full right now. I have a niece who recently graduated from college with a 4-year degree. No dice. She's contemplating joining the Navy instead.

You do your job the best you can and collect your check. Emotions have nothing to do with the job at hand. If your smart enough you can do radar repair for example. You get on the job training a bonus when you finish AIT and regular hours and never fire a shot. Come out in a couple years with a security clearance and a good paying job for life. The military is what you make it if you make it.
In the current economy the military is one of the most stable jobs with decent pay out there. It will take care of you and your family. In the real world 3k a month is nothing in the military you living good with a excellent benefit's package.

Yeah, a lot of people here think the military is super-desperate, will take anybody with a pulse, and is only a hair away from reinstating the draft. If they knew they truth it would surprise them how many people who actually want to enlist are turned down everyday.
Military no,rebels yeah!FMAB_GTOI like this idea, I'm afraid of the pain of getting shot though.:/ You see that scene in Saving Private Ryan where the medic dies and you just never want to end up like him, convulsing on the ground crying about the pain in your liver with blood coming out of your mouth barely able to talk, no way man!D:

Even if you make it thru basic and AIT all you have to do is be late or get fat and you will be on your way back out.

LOL.. that's for poor people who can't pass high school.

You need a high school diploma and you have to pass a test to join the military.
When I was in high school the Marines recruiter was so desperate he was trying to convince kids to drop out and sign up right away. I can't believe they let that guy have that job. He also told kids if they were thinking of joining the military they obviously aren't smart enough to get into a good school so the Marines were their only option. The only reason I would ever do it is to travel the world. However, the fear from the risk of getting deployed into a war outweighs my want for that.

For example, Marine aviation will have requirements as strict as any on the civilian side.

Are you sure that wasn't what he was doing? The military hasn't taken dropouts in years unless they got their GED at a minimum. Most of the time the military requires you to have 15 semester hours of college if you have a GED instead of a diploma.
As for the statement about only dummies wanting to join the military, yeah, that guy probably needed to be fired.

He was falling behind the other recruiters so he was trying to get them to drop out and quick get their GED. Idk why because as you said, you can join your senior year. Not one person joined that year. Please Log In to post.
