It happens almost on a daily basis, but where do people learn such misspoken sayings or words? How does intents and purposes become intensive purposes? Or, it's a mute point for it's a moot point?

Threads here are even mis-titled such as who hear listens to metal? Hear means to listen. Here on the other hand describes OT. I have even seen the made up word payed used in place of the word paid.

What are some of your favorite words or sayings that are misspoken?

I work at an office store, so I hear this one constantly. "Do ya'll have any cartalages?"

Cartalages.

Cartalages.

It's cartridge, you moron. How do you mess that up?

My name. Whenever they attempt to say it they always forget "the awesome" part at the end.

Of course. After all, that's why you needed to say obviously ("obv") when explaining something that I didn't know. :P

This is definitely one of my pet peeves as well. Some people don't think before they... type.

Another one is the simple distinction between words like there and their, your and you're etc.

This. Also my Dad says Abnormal as Abbey-normal. How the hell does that make any sense. Even though it's just part of the accent it annoys me a bit when people pronounce Roof as "Rough".

There is OFD or old farts disease. It has some similarities to Alzheimer's though.:?

everyone around me always thought it was "all timers".

Anyway, there's a few that annoy me but I can't think of them until they actually happen. Besides the obvious ones like "could care less" and "you're vs. "your", I try to say things like "converse" instead of "conversate".

Actually, I just thought of one. I HATE when people use the word "ironic" when it's actually coincidence, or especially when it's neither. :x

lol. thats the only one that annoys me. the term 'could careless' make no sense. you may as well not say anything. her is popular british comedian David Mitchell explaining why http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=om7O0MFkmpw
