What a werid topic oO

But no, I wouldn't, because I'm a vegetarian. I do however think that people who do eat meat, should eat everything from an animal that's being slaughtered for them.

Sure why not. I've never eaten monkey but I've eaten squid, beef heart, beef tongue, sheep eye, and some more. I'd be willing to add something new and interesting to the list.

Squid? Well the texture is kinda rubbery and dense. The way it was cooked was spicy and tasted sort of like a cross between fish and pork to me.

That's what I was wondering. I've heard of kuru being a LOT more common in cannibalistic societies that ate the brains of the dead, and then there's the whole "mad cow disease" where eating cow brains and spinal tissue can fatally f*** you up.

So I generally make a point of avoiding eating brains in general. ESPECIALLY mammalian brains, and ESPECIALLY the brains of primates. I don't know if monkeys actually do transmit these kinds of prions when their brains are eaten, but there's no freaking way I'd eat them without being completely 100% assured that's it's entirely safe.

Prepared in a traditional culinary way (animal killed humanely, served on a plate) sure, why not?

Prepared in the way I've heard some consume it (live monkey has brain case opened, and it is eaten while the animal is still living, a la Anthony Hopkins and Ray Liotta in "Hannibal"), hell to the no.

Be warned: last I heard, the prions that cause diseases such as kuru can't be destroyed by cooking food.

hahaha, putting squid (calamari) with the list of beef heart and tongue and sheep eye... that's liking putting something common as shirmp or salmon on it.

I always wondered about this sick legend,...... thing is, Once the brain case is opened, wouldn't it cause imminent death? Like, who can survive brain case opening to that degree... that's like getting a massive head trauma, and what about all the blood loss, there would be lack of blood flow to brain = death

That's how they do brain surgery on a regular basis. They need direct access to the brain tissue. The brain is contained in a sack of fluid from what I can remember, that prevents it from bleeding out.

@foxhound_fox: , in surgery, the brain is "contained"..... not forked or spooned..lol

anyways, apparently the punishment is 10 YEARS of PRISON for Monkey Brain eating...at least on planet earth.... UNLESS you are a Cameroonian/Nigerian war chief, if wikipedia says so it must true.
