Greetings denizens of Gamespot, and welcome back to the next instalment of what's to be an ongoing exploration into the strangest and darkest reaches of the internet – the mind of a moderator.

Important to note that this is not just an Off Topic thing, but a Q&A that encompasses all of Gamespot, with mods from across the boards and where all users are welcome to participate. There are sticky notifications in all the major discussion boards (General Gaming Discussion and System Wars) as well as the platform specific boards to brings every poster in every part of gamespot under one roof for this ongoing series. So you'll interact with the mods you're familiar with and get to know the others from different parts of the forums.

Oh you might think the life of a moderator is all champagne and caviar, fame & fortune, and prestige beyond measure. But let me assure you fine folks that nothing could be farther from the truth. For one thing we don't even get paid for what we do :P So now peer beneath the veil as you get to find out what makes us tick.

Each week (from Wed-Wed), one of us will assume the Hot Seat and take questions from you, the life blood of this community. Oh sure you could ask us what our favourite food is, or movie, or actor, or get our opinions on gaming. But why stop there? Want to know what super power we would choose if we could possess one? Where we would go if we could travel in time? Who we think would win in a fight between Wolverine and Sonic the Hedgehog?

Be inventive. Be imaginative. By all means push us to the brink of our sanity :twisted: And while some playful ribbing is permitted here (even encouraged ;) ), don't get outright offensive or insulting. TOU rules still apply.But also let me emphasise although you can ask about our experiences as a mod, this isn't about moderation inquiries, or a supplement to Ask the Mods. Also mods will reserve the right not to answer a question if it gets too personal.

Think of it more like we're all just chillin' at a bar, getting to know each other in conversation and just having fun. Take it as a social experience.

Where are you from? Born in California, raised in New York, currently live in Raleigh NC

How'd you come up with your username?

Maybe 10 or 12 years ago (hard to remember exactly when) I was working up North at a local TV station in the production department. We handled all the local news and all the pre-taped public relation/service shows that are required by law to show... most of them you see early Sunday morning, if you even try to watch them:P

One of the shows was a seniors show with a host who we will call "Tony". It was a half hour show and Tiony and guests would talk about things related to senior citizens. I won't go into details about content, you can imagine the boredom...

The host "Tony" would come in an hour before the taping each week and come back to the control room with a sheet of paper containing the names of the guests and thier "titles" so we could type in the info for graphics during the show. Here's where the fun begins...

"Tony" was always forgetting names (he was well into his 80's and god bless him he kept going) He would come back and say "hey Teddy" one week and the next week say "hey Billy" to the same person... funny/cute.whatever.

I worked there for six years... the man saw me every week, and he never remembered my name. One week, he came to the control room, there were a few of use hanging and talking about things, he comes right up to me with a big grin, hands me the paper with the guest names on it.....

Wait for it.... wait for it......

He pokes my chest... and says..... "solid..... that's pretty solid... there russ" I'm not kidding, god save me... he left the room and everyone broke down laughing... so shortly after that, I made the name solidruss, if you see it out there on the internets, it's more than likely me. It never had anything to do with Metal Gear Solid, nothing game related.

First off I have to give you props for your excellent April Fools thread - I doubt anything will top it for a long time. Which pro wrestlers have you met personally? Was Steve always your favorite? How much time passed before you became a MMod?

I've met many many wrestlers over the years, far too many to list, got to hang out with Rhyno for one afternoon which was cool, and some others, shook hands with werestlers Andre the Giant, Big John Stud, Sgt Slaughter and many more.

Didn't care for Austin before the Stone Cold era, but when he switched to that, hell yeah!

Well, it's never fun. I don't obtain pleasure from it despite what some may say, but what needs to be done needs to be done. If I ever feel a conflict of interest I can always leave the moderation for someone else to take care of.

question 2 I've known you forever it seems..You have found a balance between being a mod and being a normal user..How hard was that or is it natural?

That is something that has always been a tough one, due to my age, there is a lot of things around here I just don't feel comfortable joining in with. I kinda feel like a father which is one of the reasons I feel very passionate about helping with the community at Gamespot. I think we all saw that after the April Fools prank, especially when users thought that spazz and myself were banned for good. While there were a few that were happy with my demise, there were a lot more that or at least seemed genuinely upset.

Nah, this may be a shock to hear but I hear a lot of complaints :P

It's scripted, they do real action but it's a pre-determined event. Props to all wrestlers since they do things that will cripple us normal people.

Stone Cold hands down, Andre doesn't have the stamina for something like that :P

What is it that you like about Stone Cold? And if you have watched recently what are your thoughts on CM Punk?

Just loved his whole attitude, he was awesome on the mic, and always got the crowd pumped. Like one wrestler said "everyone wants to punch their boss in the face at least once, Stone Cold got to do it everyday"

Wether you liked him or you hated him one can't deny that when you heard that glass smash, the crowd would leap to their feet and scream thier loudest knowing that in a few seconds Stone Cold would be entyering the ring and someone would have hell to pay!

I stopped watching wrestling activly after Stone Cold and the Rock left, so i don't know CM Punk
