I'll go with modern. CIassic rock is the single most overrated form of music in existence, the only cIassic rock band that I think actually deserves the amount of praise they get is Pink Floyd. Darth-Caedus
Not all c1assic rock bands are 'overrated' or popular, and I don't Thin Lizzy is overrated. And Thin Lizzy are underrated, imo.

As for me, I prefer ciass1c rock>90's rock>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>today's rock.

Can't stand classic rock and I'm not sure what "modern rock" entails.

Gonna have to go with neither.

Classic rock (I assume this includes 70's hard rock). Haven't heard any modern rock that rivals Springsteen, The Eagles, AC/DC, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, etc.

Add Nicklecrap to the list and you got a reason why Deep Purple spits in their faces.

you know what you never hear any more in Rock? Riffs, or solo's, or anything besides power chords. I hate hearing all this "its all been done before". Well they were able to do 'it' for 40 years and all of a sudden music videos come out and creativity just goes out the window. Music videos have really destroyed music as a whole. I've seen more talent in buskers in one city than I have in mainstream music.

Exactly why I wouldn't vote for modern...all of those bands are terrible (excluding Foo Fighters, I can stand some songs off the Colour and the Shape). Nevertheless, all the bands I listen to came out within the past 20 years.

It seems like a lot of people are thinking of Modern Rock and Classic Rock as Hard Rock and Alternative. When Rock also includes Metal, Psychedelic Rock, Punk, Blues Rock, Progressive, etc. like I had said in my last post.

Only a few modern bands have the heart and soul of music that the classic bands had. All around, classic is much better on average. Edit: not to say that modern rock is bad (heck, if symphonic metal counts as "modern rock" then two of my favorite bands were formed in the last 10 or so years, if thats modern enough...)

Much of modern rock has heart and soul. You have to know where to look. And as with the classic age...it's NOT the radio.

Although metal is technically a subgenre of rock, my experience has been people tend to refer to it specifically (and do not include it when they talk about rock). I'm guessing TC didn't intend for it to be included.

Though that's just my opinion.

[QUOTE="D_Battery"]AC/DC has the record for the world's longest song. It spans 18 albums. :PDarth-Caedus
 So true.
I hope you're not implying anything bad about AC/DC. ;)--Thomas--
Oh no...aside from every song sounding exactly the same, the incredibly simplistic riffs and drumming, the lame lyrics, and having one of the worst vocalists in existence....aside from all that...they aren't that bad >____>

Just like metal hmm?

I dont remember specifically. I just remembered that I listened to practically all of their albums (I think) and I found them to be dull, without a purpose and kinda idk, they put me to sleep. :P

I only dinstinctly remember one of their songs where the singer screams. Its a famous song but cant remember the title.

Besides they are more blues than rock. Not that those two are completely different but you get what I mean.

Modern rock is awesome with guys like Bumblefoot and bands like Thornley and Muse...but classic rock will always hold a special place in my heart for all the classic songs and all the memories and lore behind those songs.

Classic easily. Most modern rock is straight commercial garbage except for maybe some 90's grunge/alternative, oh and Kings of Leon is good. Yeah there was commercial garbage back in the 60s, 70s, and 80s like some glam metal like poison, and a lot of mainstream techno pop but the real hard rock will always be better than whats on the modern rock radios today. Guns N' Roses, Metallica, and Led Zeppelin **** on all modern rock period.

 I have to agree with that

I'd actually rather listen to Nickelback TBH....their vocalist isn't quite as obnoxious... >_>

ACDC definitely is not that good of a band, but come on. An old lady falling down the stairs sounds better than Nickelback.

As for the poll, depends. To be honest, I find the divide between the two to be stupid.

Yes, because it makes sense to compare mainstream rock to mediocre bands like Guns N Roses, and Metallica. Oh and Kings of Leon is good  ?
