5. Scripted faceless service

I abhor modern-day service. I worked in a shop over Christmas and I hated it. Answering the phone, answering questions, it was all scripted. We couldn't derive from the script (well, we weren't supposed to but that was why my manager hated me (amongst other things)). If we had a console bundle on sale I seriously couldn't see why you can't substitute a game for another game of the same or cheaper price. But no. You can't. It's against policy. Who comes up with these policies? Some suit in an office miles away.

4. British comedy

Modern British comedy is ******* awful. Seriously. I could drink coffee until I shook and tapped morse code with my arse and write a better script than half of the rubbish spewed out nowadays. Look at Coming of Age. Look at Olivia Lee, a woman who is single handedly trying to redefine "laughter" as "dead ******* silence".

3. Internet humour

Once in a while someone does something funny. Be it a video, picture or whatever. Then come the parodies. And the parodies or the parodies. Then they flood the YLYL threads and chain emails. Soon, what was once a mild chuckle has become as funny as watching Olivia Lee (see above).

2. Shops

Every shop is now starting to turn into every other shop. WH Smiths was once just a book shop but now it sells DVDs, music, food...it's a few eggs and some raw meat short of being a corner shop. Hell, even HMV has started selling snacks and books. Waterstones has even started selling video games. I wouldn't mind this if there was at least one or two specialist shops left, but now everything is selling the same general popular rubbish it's hard to find the rare hidden gems.

1. Facebook

Now, I'd be lying if I said I never use Facebook. I use it quite a bit to keep in touch with people I haven't seen in a long time. But what I hate is that everything is starting to revolve around the damn thing. All mobile phones made in the last 2-3 years focus more on how they'll connect to Facebook than on, say, actually being able to phone or text. There are probably more apps, web-based add-ons and programs that connect to Facebook (and to a lesser extent Twitter) than I can be bothered count.

What modern trends do you hate?

sounds like you think the world should adapt to your opinion, rather than there actually being anything wrong with these modern trends

I dont agree with Facebook. I do think people need more face to face, in person interaction with others, and that includes people on this forum as well, but FB has some good to it if you actually know people who use it.

Yeah I'm tired of a lot of stuff like too many shooters on xbox, music games, romantic comedies, ignorant politicians, little kids dominating the music industry, etc etc but most of all I hate hate on the internet. Does that make me hypocritcal? Perhaps but its still annoying.

The trend of ever-more casual-focused games, now I'm not saying this is a bad thing at all, I welcome more varied audiences by far, but when it becomew Too casual that allmost all franchises strive to welcome newbies and cater to hardcores aswell, they end up not doing either of these right very well.

The games industry is slowly losing alot of the good specialised genres that used to be around in the years past, SimCity anyone? How dumbed-downb did Societies feel in comparison to SimCity4?

Not all British comedies need to die there is still a few decent ones, I.T. Crowd, Inbetweeners, Peep Show, Red Dwarf (Filming a new series), Outnumbered. Then the current affairs comedy shows, Mock the week, QI and Have I got news for you. Apart from them Coming of Age really needs to go away. The current fad I hate is Ed Hardy stuff being everywhere and Crocs still are around.

Yeah British comedy is still fine, TC must solely watch BBC3 or something, that's the dumping ground for any new sitcom, so whilst they might eventually get a gem, most of it will be a pile of crap.

I think all trends by their nature of being trends die. And I feel sorry for those people who feel they have to jump on the next bandwagon in order to feel accepted by society. I think the most disturbing trend as of late is the trend of being a narcissistic, egotistical scab who thinks the world revolves around them. It seems like the biggest trend is to be as much of an a-hole as possible, and people love you for it. I wish all trends would go away and people could just be themselves instead of being what others tell them to be.

It's probably because I'm from a from a slightly different generation so to speak, but super skinny jeans trend looks extremely rediculous to me. I can understand how the skaters prefer slimmer jeans for more flexibility and comfort and what not, but some of these kids jeans are so unbelievably tight that I can't help but grab my goods in pain.

OUCH!

Getting offended by someone's opinion is pointless. He said something that HE didn't like. Relax.

Well if we are going to play the wild rolling assumption game, technically he didn't say HE personally. Nor did at any point say i was offended, i was simply wondering what kind of shoes someone else COULD wear, as cowboyboots/sandals/boots/running shoes would look just silly.

I'm not a fan of skinny jeans in general (worse on guys than on girls, admittedly) but something a little smaller and less obnoxious would be better. High top sneakers + skinny jeans = DO NOT WANT

The only thing I find funny most of the time on the internet is on the site that shall not be named archives.

British Comedy is good, look at The Mighty Boosh, Peep Show, Mock the Week, Nevermind the Buzzcocks, League of Gentlemen, QI, That Mitchell and Webb Look.
