Would you like to see more racial diversity in gamespots reviewer and presenter team. Gaming is enjoyed by many races so this should be reflected in their media team. Amiright?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I don't care who they get to review things. A persons race will have no bearing on whether I like a review or not.

Good point, but still should be some diversity.
I think it should just stick to western culture and not multiculturalism since it leaves a mess.
Yeh your right multiculturalism was the wrong word.
Again this is a question for the staff and not for the forums.
Like jpl has pointed out in the other thread this isn't really important.
EDIT: I'll leave this open to discussion but I don't feel this is the best idea.

Thread will prob fade away pretty quickly anyway. We will see how it goes.
Cheers.
they should hire whatever applicants are best at the job. They shouldn't hire people just to add sprinkles of racial diversity.
This by 100 miles. Racial diversity quotas are fucking stupid, especially when it comes to professionalism, whether it's job applicants or video game reviewers. Merit and experience are what's important.
I think woman is more of an issue, as with news anchors, the males can quite happilly look like sloth from the Goonies while the females look like underwear models.
I'd like to see a slight obese 45 year old woman present GameSpot shows, preferably with thick dark rimmed glasses.

Exactly. Skin color shouldn't be relevant in whether or not someone gets a job, be it a game site or a police department.
@raugutcon: to have a different perspective and to represent societies multiculturalism.
Haha hope this doesn't get locked, i tried to come at the subject at a different angle so not ecourage a negative discussion :)
I think diversity of culture (or more specifically diversity of opinion/viewpoint) can be useful. For example, many gamers enjoy japanese games but western reviewers aren't likely to understand them as well as the players if they've not much familiarity or appreciation for what's popular among japanese audiences. Culture and race are often linked so a culturally diverse team would probably be racially diverse too (eg, the best person to review japanese games might be someone who is actually from japan and is very familiar with the themes of its games). However that's not always the case, and if the review team is made up of people of different races who all think and act the same then I don't think there's much benefit to that beyond the superficial.
Again this is a question for the staff and not for the forums.
This is a question for whoever OP wishes to ask it too. And you don't get to decide that.
Racially I´m white, to which culture should I belong ? so now let´s narrow it a little bit more, I´m white and I´m Hispanic, to which white hispanic culturalism should I belong ?
Culture and race nowadays have very little to do with each other. So OP´s premise: "to have a different perspective and to represent societies multiculturalism" is flawed.
@Master_Live: not when you consider the context of the first topic and what the OP was implying.
Go ahead and read it along with jpl's response, that was the intention with the thread and probably this one too.
If this topic was posted first it would be different.
I do get to decide if their intention is to put up false implications about how GameSpot recruits people because that is just straight up false. That IS a question you should be asking GameSpot because they would know the answer.... A thread like that would do nothing for the community. Doesn't really create good discussion.
Like of course he could send this question as a pm to other members to the forum. That wasn't the point of what I'm saying.
I'd like to see people best qualified for the position to get it, rather than trying to impose some sort of false "diversity" through pandering to the political correctness crowd.
Being black/female/homosexual doesn't make someone's opinion better or more valuable than someone who is a white male.

Nope. Just review the game, period.
TC you should be careful. Mods/staff might take it in wrong way and get you banned. You be much better off without discussing skin colour on GS, trust me :)
Haha noted.
Am I the only one wondering why the race of someone writing a review matters?
Its just a thought i had is all, prob should not have acted in it, i'm gonna lock this thread.

Yeh that first thread i did was totally stupid, i regret posting it.
This is one of the most disgusting posts I've ever seen.
The job should be done by people who can do the job, period.
Didnt mean to offend anyone. I thought it was a fair question 2nd time around but i guess it doesnt matter as long as the job is being done to a good standard.
We're white you motherfuckers...WHITE!
I'm actually olive...I just likes typing that.
Reminds me of a guy in high school who refused to believe I was white for some reason. I have an olive skin tone, so I guess that's why he thought so, but I'm not even that dark. Too many dumbasses in this country take race as literally just skin color, when it actually includes your facial features, hair texture and appearance, and generally what country or countries your ancestors originated.
Olive skin tones are common around the Mediterranean. I'm a quarter French and France borders the Mediterranean Sea, so it probably explains my skin color. Only in Minnesota (well, probably in the Dakotas, Wisconsin, and Iowa too) would I be deemed not white for not having the typical paper white skin of a Scandinavian. O_O

Well said.
Well they do have a Muslim in their staff. Maybe I am wrong but Tamoor seems like it. I also don't know if he is a permanent GS staff or not. Only saw him at E3 and writing a few articles/
Ok I agree with TC. But my question is does GS have any other news editors other than 1080p 60 fps Eddie Makuch? The guy write almost every article. like seriously.
@gamerguru100: well, to some you are not white unless your skin is white. I remember that asshole schoolmate that called me "brown hispanic" ( was not the term he used but I can´t post it without being warned by the moderators ) when I attended the San Antonio Academy. In his mind being hispanic and actually worse ( in his mind ) being Mexican must immediately meant dark skin, kind of strange taking in consideration that I am much whiter than him, maybe it was because I have dark brown hair and eyes ? go figure.
