What current TV trends are annoying OT the most? Two come to mind for me
The idea that any celebrity (or about any honestly) can have a reality TV Show, and that any job can have one (I can understand Cops, Pawn Stars, and ones that can be interesting. But Doggy grooming, truckers, Loggers, really?)

And cable networks taking HBO TV shows like The Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Entourage, and cutting out like 4-8 minutes (along with the langauge and violence) per episode. I don't know how to make HBO shows on cable work, maybe they just aren't meant to be.

History Channel's made some sad shows, recently.

Ice Road Trucker... seriously? Swamp People? And this is the channel that once strove to recount history.

Too many cop shows. Although, Odd Jobs with Terry O'Quinn and Michael Emerson sounds amazing.

Anything considered "Reality" these days. I like most things they show on Discovery though, like Mythbusters and Man vs Wild. Sons of Guns is pretty cool too. Not sure if they're considered Reality or not, but I'm talking about the crap they show on MTV and E! and such.

The trend when Mtv decided to stop music programming and started airing reality soaps only.
The M in Mtv used to stand for music, but there's no music to be found on that channel anymore.

How anybody can watch that crapola and anything on MTV, is beyond me. I'm also sick of all of the duplicate reality shows. Be original for crying out loud!

I don't see the appeal of Larry... and for a moment there, I thought you were talking about actual quality programming...

I'm starting to see an increase in commercial time which is starting to drive me insane. 60 minute shows with maybe 38 minutes of actual programming.

Wow that is big increase it should be 44 minutes of programing. I am ok with commercials because producing content is not cheap. I also hate the glorification of stupidity like Teen Mom shows.

Yeah I didn't realize it at first then started to Goolge and it isn't every network but the top ones like Comedy Central, Spike, MTV, VH1 etc etc are starting to shorten actual TV programming.

I'd have to go with Reality TV in general.

I remember the days when there was a topic that someone was interested in, they would do research, have interviews and put together a nice documentary about said subject. Now, we toss a camera in someone's truck or house and somehow thats a show.

The annoying as hell pop-up graphics as you're trying to watch a show or movie. It was bad enough they started with the logo of whatever channel is on the bottom of the screen, but now you're stuck with the actors popping up and moving around, promoting whatever they want to to watch.

Actually, something that irritates me even more than Reality TV (because I can change the channel) are the in-show advertisements. You know, when you're watching a show and right at the most suspensful part, some characters from another show pop up in the corner of your screen, advertising whatever stupid show they are on. That drives me nuts! And is it me, or are the sizes of these in-show graphics getting bigger?

Note: By the way, when there are parts of a show or movie with subtitles, you'd think that the TV people would realize that is NOT the right time to have the words blocked with these stupid ads.

The rise of reality TV due to cheaper production and high viewer ratings.

Boston_Boyy

I haven't noticed a cut in language and violence. I watch Game of Thrones, True Blood, etc and the language and violence are still there.

As to annoying, rage inducing things, I hate that they are shrinking down the season sizes, that all they seem to want to show are one of the big 6 (Cop/crime dramas, law shows, doctor shows, singing shows, talent shows, and cooking/other reality shows) when most all are junk and how people can keep watching them season after season is beyond me, and that they seem to cancel any show that is not "believable" by the average person so they cancel a show with a great plot/acting/concept. The last one just gets under my skin. There have been plenty of shows that were cancelled before their time simply because people thought them too unbelievable, yet thought that all doctors have steamy romances and cops are all hardcore, gritty heroes that have "so shocking we can't even show it on the preview" things happen to them every episode. So stupid, I mean really? Keep on watching people sing and dance and court bachelorettes and professions that make six figures because you don't. Keep on keepin on.

If it weren't for the fact that Mike Judge is bringing back Beavis and Butt-head this fall, there wouldn't be any reason for me to watch MTV anymore.
