I second that
I third it.I fourth it.
I fifth it. Although I am quite partial to Buckethead's "Too Many Humans"

Yeah..'Too Many Humans' is a beautiful piece of music. Freebird is also awesome. Difficult to choose. I also like the solo in Sweet Child o' Mine by GNR.
Most awe-inspiring: Fury of the Storm
Most epic: Dawn Over a New World
Most pure awesome: Canon Rock
Most likely to be used in an anime: Motocycle Driver
Most "should be in a film": Insanity
The guitar solo in Freebird by Lynyrd SkynyrdKG86Somebody on youtube said the tabs for the solo was 14 pages.
Little Wing anyone? That song, i dunno. Perfect.TheWindWaker11
Beat me to it! :P that or Maggot Brain.

is that the one where Herman writes beyond his abilities? or the one where they make "videogame" noises with their guitars to be "cool"? or is it the one with that un-creative guitar solo? i cannot tell, it all sounds the same

You actually think they can play that? Watch them live and then tell me.
The Final Cut - Coheed and Cambria
The entire song is essentially a guitar solo, but with lyrics. Totally awesome!

Yeah, Freebird. That solo is just epic...
I also like Paradigm Shift by Liquid Tension Experiment. It's an instrumental song, basically a 9 minute guitar solo :P
That solo is nothing special. It is really slow and boring and repetitive. For me it would have to be the bridge of destiny outro solo by Arch Enemy, it is simply breath taking, mezmerizing and an absolute example that speed isnt all that is needed for a good solo. Here is a video of the solo being played live, you wont regret it!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38t9akRJQ54

The one which evidently you haven't heard.
[QUOTE="EboyLOL"]Not to mention they're racist.Freebird was a complete holocaust. So unbelievably boring and undeveloped. I would have to go with Texas Flood, Cause We've Ended as Lovers, Machine Gun, Telegraph Road and We're Going Wrong.

O snap.
I choose to avoid Lynyrd Skynyrd as much as I can, so I wouldn't know.[QUOTE="Cerussite"][QUOTE="EboyLOL"]Not to mention they're racist.Freebird was a complete holocaust. I choose to avoid Lynyrd Skynyrd as much as I can, so I wouldn't know.Well, the only actual evidence of this is "Sweet Home Alabama", but who cares? People are calling them racists, and I figure I should join in their jeering.I will go with the end of the Dire Straits "Sultans of Swing". CrimzonTide
Can't believe I forgot about this one, probably my second favorite solo.

i've heard enough Dragonforce to know that almost all of their songs sound the same, except for the intros...
I didn't know Akerfeldt was in a band besides Opeth. I'll have to check them out.[QUOTE="KingBreogan"]Mikael Åkerfeldt's solo in Sörskogen's "Mordet i Grottan". I don't know about "awe-inspiring", but it's certainly my favourite and, in my opinion, one of the finer pieces done by Åkerfeldt.needled24-7
My favorite guitar solo would have to be the one in Kissing The Shadows, by Children of Bodom.
I second that, Kissing shadows is amazing.
Any solo in a Pink Floyd song is drenched in epic. David Gilmour just flat out brings it to the table and lays it out with every solo.

That is of course, Comfortable Numb.

Took way too long for this to be mentioned lol
This is my favorite of all time, though it may be more cliche than saying Freebird.
