I don't find that song depressing.....its sad yet uplifting at the same time
I don't know. There's something about the lyrics that kind of makes me sad. Maybe not depressing, but that maybe due to the fact that I don't listen to depressing songs. Or maybe Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. That song I also find sad.Trapped In The Closet.

yeah that song does get pretty close to making me think there's no reason to live...
[QUOTE="sinistergoggles"]Mad World by Gary Jules gets me a little depressed when ever I hear it.FrozeN__54Same.
agreed
Tons of songs by Suicide (Frankie Teardrop), the Eels (Elizabeth on the Bathroom Floor), Joy Division (24 hours, Isolation, etc), The Wedding Present, Red House Painters, Elliot Smith, and others are close...but for me I think the most depressing song I've heard is:
"Holocaust" by Big Star
Â
Vaka by Sigur Ros. It's only sad with the video though.

Dude, have you freaking heard "True Love Waits" that is seriosly depressing. Most everything by that band is at least a little depressing. There are always the undertones.

No...its more pretentious when Jonny Cash sings it. By changing the lyric to crown of thorns and having the video have shots of him and Jesus carrying the cross, it was like him saying I went the troubles of christ, and i think he butchers the song.Â

its not off an album. you CAN find it, however, in I Might Be Wrong Live Recordings. Seriously.
"Last Flowers Till the Hospital" is seriously depressing too. But that is not released yet.
nah, what album is that off of?Â
[QUOTE="metallica_fan42"]Down in a Hole-Alice in Chains. Especially the unplugged version.zepman71
That whole album is miserable :( yet brilliant :D
Their lyrics are very powerful. Alice in Chains in one of my favorite bands, and Layne Staley's voice is an incredible fit to not only the band, but to the genre.Â

True Love Waits is a beautiful song. It's really just a gorgeous song about how love is kind of a downer but cool at the same time. It's melancholic but not really depressing. I find it uplifting in a subtle sort of way. Climbing Up the Walls is just entirely insane and isn't sad so much as frightening. That's definitely the song's main emotion, no question. Street Spirit sounds extremely sad, and really is sad in terms of everything, however it's so melodic it's hard for me to find it depressing. Radiohead celebrates the ups and the downs, and doesn't make out sorrow to be perdition at all; they rejoice in the emotion, really.Â
