no way ,NS isn't sad at all,Climbing Up the Walls, and Street Spirit (fade out) are sad
Â
Dude, have you freaking heard "True Love Waits" that is seriosly depressing. Most everything by that band is at least a little depressing. There are always the undertones.
Â

its not off an album. you CAN find it, however, in I Might Be Wrong Live Recordings. Seriously.
"Last Flowers Till the Hospital" is seriously depressing too. But that is not released yet.

...do you listen to Radiohead?anything by radiohead.

Electioneering isn't sad...at all :|
Well, that and the first ten songs of OK Computer and a ton of other songs. I'd say the majority of their stuff is not overtly sad.
Â

True Love Waits is a beautiful song. It's really just a gorgeous song about how love is kind of a downer but cool at the same time. It's melancholic but not really depressing. I find it uplifting in a subtle sort of way. Climbing Up the Walls is just entirely insane and isn't sad so much as frightening. That's definitely the song's main emotion, no question. Street Spirit sounds extremely sad, and really is sad in terms of everything, however it's so melodic it's hard for me to find it depressing. Radiohead celebrates the ups and the downs, and doesn't make out sorrow to be perdition at all; they rejoice in the emotion, really.Â
Â
True love waits is depressing though. Come on, the chorus is "Just dont leave, dont leave."

ya,i mean look at Electioneering,it's so awesomeand happy

It is sadder when johnny cash sings it
No...its more pretentious when Jonny Cash sings it. By changing the lyric to crown of thorns and having the video have shots of him and Jesus carrying the cross, it was like him saying I went the troubles of christ, and i think he butchers the song.Â
Johnny Cash wrote that song though. How could he butcher his own song?
The entire album "Funeral" does a good job. Or parts of The Bends and OK Computer.nuttybar
As in the ablum Funeral by Arcade Fire? Becuase that isnt depressing at all...Wake Up is really uplifting
The album is about how a bunch of their family members died. It's more of a process of sadness and recovery, which I would consider a more complete picture, than, say "Creep" by Radiohead.Pictures of You by The CuresthadjiThat song is not about an emotion so much as it is about an idea, very similar to Fitzgerald's thesis for the Great Gatsby.
Are you joking or what...? It's not a happy song, it's just definitely not a sad song either.ya,i mean look at Electioneering,it's so awesomeand happy

wow. just wow. HURT WAS BY NIN. IT WAS RELEASED IN 1994.
The entire concept is melancholy. It's not really sad, to me. It's regretting that it has to end, that's all, and that's not so sad at all to me.True love waits is depressing though. Come on, the chorus is "Just dont leave, dont leave."

Yeah, Cash just did one of the best covers ever on it.I liked the cover better, too. It's funny. The ONE THING nobody is allowed to say at a NIN concert is "Hey, that's a Jonny Cash song!" lol

Have you ever read the book? It's a love story, basically. Now
When Gatsby sees Daisy again, it's incredible, but Fitzgerlad keeps insinuating that Daisy could absolutely never live up to Gatsby's expectations of her and that the illusions he has of her are far, far more powerful than Daisy is. Gatsby basically barely knew her and just thought up someone to love who he thought was her
The lyrics are all about how love makes you lose a realistic perspective of the person you love. I thought anyway.

That song is not about an emotion so much as it is about an idea, very similar to Fitzgerald's thesis for the Great Gatsby.

Pictures of You by The Curequiglythegreat

"Love Will Tear Us Apart" by Joy Division. So beautifully unnerving, yet awesome song... 8)freakyzeeky1986
Yay Joy Division! I find that song a bit strange....on one hand, you've the upbeat synth line, then you've got Curtis singing about aching despair :( still awesome though

"I've been holding on to these pictures of you so long that I almost believe they're real" or something like that is what I'm basing this interpretation on.'t think it goes that deep. I think it's just a song about having regrets and missing someone and all you have left of them are some photos.

I thought that meant, becuase all he had was the photos, he formed a greater relationship with the photos than the girl who he isnt with anymore. To the point where all other relationships felt inferior and the photo was the most real a relationship he could have. Â

In actuality he got the idea for the song crawling through a burning hotel room to get his song lyrics and finding out his pictures have been a bit burned.....to put it into historical perspective. But like I said, the song is about lost love and only having the pictures left...

Still, the line "I almost believe they're real" definitely suggests illusion to me.

"I've been holding on to these pictures of you so long that I almost believe they're real" or something like that is what I'm basing this interpretation on.quiglythegreat

Still, the line "I almost believe they're real" definitely suggests illusion to me.I think it's because he's been looking at the pictures for so long that he wants to believe that they're real because he knows he'll never see or live through that relationship again. Â

Correct....the line "if only I'd thought of the right words I could have held on to your heart....If only I'd thought of the right words I wouldn't be breaking apart" suggest that.
That makes a lot of sense. I've been completely misinterpretting that song.I think it's because he's been looking at the pictures for so long that he wants to believe that they're real because he knows he'll never see or live through that relationship again.
