I personally stopped listening to new music after Kurt Cobain killed himself and U2 decided to release Discocrap!!!!! After those episodes music turned crap.

Again...only if your only listening to the mainstream garbage... Here...try these... The Heart CollectorPosthumous SilenceRecreation DayI just lisetend to Nevermore- The Heart Collecter. I'm instantly reminded of Metallica. The guitar was great for that music, the singer really blows, I mean "REALLY ******* Blows"
I could not get into that, I had Metallica when I was younger. If I wanted to hear music like that I'd throw on a CD of Metallica.
Being a Guitarist myself I won't say you shouldn't listen to that. Anything that you want to hear is your own call. I respect anybodies love for a band, that's whyI listen to Pink Floyd, G'n'R (the good days) and Metallica (the good days again!) I also love listening to Elton John (Best music man ever)
Although the Guitar was great in that song, I just can't get into the singing. Maybe I'm old fashioned, I just don't think the Guitar/Music blended with that singing. But I don't wanna put you down and say my music is better. It's all personal preference, I had music like that in my day and love it to death (the singer was better though lol)
Jeff Loomis is one of the best guitarists alive :?And Warrel Dane is an amazing singer, albeit a somewhat heavy one..
Try this and this.
EDIT: Try Iced Earth too.
