Wow...

I hope you mean because you realize how much Green Day sucks now (older stuff was good)

define how they suck

They turned emo?

BUT I realize that I'm on GS with a lot of people who ARE emo so that comment doesn't hold as much weight as I originally intended.

Tupac, biggie and oh yeah Weird al, i'm not one of them white wannabe gansgtas but the reason i like Tupac and Biggies music is because they don't rap about drugs and Hookers but they rap about stuff that was going on in the world and they were both killed, the reason i like weird al is because he proved that comedy doesn't have to stick to movies and books but it can also influence music.

Since when did Green Day start listening to Moss Icon?

They just became Simple Plan, albeit 10 years older.

Definitely Nirvana. They were the first band that I ever enjoyed. Have been listening to and enjoying their music all my life.

Sadly, Limp Bizkit has to take the 2nd spot as they were my gateway band into metal which is now my major genre....

I take back saying Green Day sucks, but IMO they did turn emo-ish. I grew up listening to their original stuff which was way better. I don't think they are bad at all, but from what the WERE to what they are NOW just turned me off.

I'm not questioning the fact that Green Day sounds different from, oh, say, 924 Gilman, they do (they still sucked back then, too).

I'm just saying you don't know what emo is.

Those aren't emo bands.

Those are scene bands, who would probably more appropriately fit under the moniker of "post-hardcore".

Doesn't anyone listen to Rites of Spring anymore?

They aren't. They don't even sound remotely emo, which is funny that you insist on calling them emo.

They're Hot Topic punk, if you want to have a title for them.

yes you have given me examples(yes i did infact listen to both, or atleast some of both), yet you haven't given me a written reason(like what qualities in your eyes make an emo band). Don't you agree there isn't "one" type of emo, all bands don't have to sound the same, grant it they have to sound similar. I still feel the bands i have listed fall under that category, although the term "emo" breaks into various categories as well.

Im gonna hafta say Red Hot Chili Peppers. I remember the day I first heard them. I was 12...wondered into a recored store and bought Uplift Mofo Party Plan. As soon as I finished that album...My ass was back in the store buying the other two Chili Peppers albums they had; Blood Sugar Sex Magik and Mother's Milk. Those albums got me into drumming, got me going to shows, got me into music in general.

Guns N Roses, The Misfits and Sublime also had a pretty big impact on me.

Johannes Brahms. My own progress as an artist has been deeply affected by this man's work.
