An easy victory for Obama? Every time i see a poll of one of the GOP frontrunners against Obama they are always neck and neck with him. There are a lot of people upset with Obama and those people could change everything.

[QUOTE="battlefront23"]His 'states rights' motto troubles me. Most modernized countries have big governments. I don't see how giving power back to the states in areas like gay marriage and abortion especially is suppose to help the U.S. as a whole. Idk, most users on here are super smart liberals and would probably school me in a political debate, but I'm a full blown libertarian, and it troubles me to see how much the government is growing. ESPECIALLY when talking about the military, particularly overseas. Also, Ron Paul never waivers. It's a nice change of pace. lolRon Paul is the only sensible Republican left. True story.

I sure hope so, their candidates should reflect the party.

After first you don't succeed, lower your standards.
This absurd idea that Democrat voters are "enlightened" is absurd. If anything, you should realize that independants account for the largest voting block during elections. Also the election of Barack Obama proves that it was a vote for slogans catchphrases and no substance. The man accomplished nothing of any significance. WeNo one is saying Democrats are enlighted, we're not talking about that at all. The GOP front runners suck, as in they're little to no better than Obama.

Oh, is THAT why we have separate branches of government?
[QUOTE="battlefront23"]What do you think of Jon Huntsman? I'm starting to lose track of all of the neocons so refresh my memory... What are his stances on major issues? (Think what would make a libertarian like myself tick) :PRon Paul is the only sensible Republican left. True story.

What angers me is how much of the Republican debates were about abortion and gay marriage stances... Who the hell cares? ESPECIALLY gay marriage. Why do people feel the need to enforce their own sort of morality on others when the 'sin' they are committing is more of a vice than anything else? It's baffling cause in the end it's not a pressing manner at all, and should not be one. Let's talk about the economy and what's happening overseas people... sighRight now, my pick in the primary is Michele Bachmann. I'm a conservative, moderate Republican, and while I'm not totally onboard with the Tea Party, I like Bachmann's values and her stances on defense, securing our borders, fiscal matters, and social issues.
the republicans this time arround are some of the most reprehensible I have ever seen. they are all massive theocrats and homophobes (even by republican standards). i would rather vote Bush back in than these people. and saying that scares the **** out of me.
I could definitely be more satisfied, but I'm going to vote Republican either way. Any Republican candidate would be better than Obama as President, wacky religious views and all.

The mayor of Norfolk was worried about 10 feet of flood waters due to storm surge and high tide. Has Norfolk been spared so far?In Va., Irene was a complete disappointment. It was pretty much just an average thunderstorm.

The wife and son went up to my parents place while I pull 18 hour shifts and bunk in the department. I've driven past our condo and it seems all right. Nothing but TAs tonight, it's like people can't grasp the idea of NOT going anywhere when it's pouring.
FML I couldn't be more wet.
Good to hear your family's okay. I was imagining the worst, with you clearing the streets and watching for looters or something like that. Latest radar pic, I see NYC and Albany are getting some heavy rain. The wife and son went up to my parents place while I pull 18 hour shifts and bunk in the department. I would take you a picture, but I'm afraid the water will fry my Droid, even inside the Expedition. Suffice to say, this has been my worst shift ever...and it's getting worse. >.>
And I'm right inbetween Albany and NYC. Again, FML.

How bad is the wind? Are you experiencing a lot of downed trees or power outages? How bad is the wind? Are you experiencing a lot of downed trees or power outages?topsemag55
AFAIK, no downed trees across any roads, but the wind isn't too bad right now. Lots of branches on the road, and one downed line. And as I said, it's only going to get worse.
I wish Irene had curved more out to sea when it turned north, instead of going where it is. I've been through too many of them, the last one that hit here tore part of my roof off, and I had a blue tarp over it for a while. Hope you make it through okay, and your town is spared.AFAIK, no downed trees across any roads, but the wind isn't too bad right now. Lots of branches on the road, and one downed line. My town seems to have been spared. A lot of flooded basements, but that's about it. The roads are good, power is still on, which surprised me. Thought it was going to be worse. Anyway, going to bed. I'm exhausted.
