Lol I know, I was joking about Opeth. Lacuna Coil is underated, although they are relatively known.

I've been a metal fan for over 15 years and I've never even heard of any of these bands people are listed. :?

Exactly. Most of these bands are unheard of because they suck. Underrated would generally be known bands that people don't give enough credit to. These listed bands in here are just nobodies.

Dude, these bands are unheard of outside of the hardcore-fan. To be underrated, they have to be rated in the first place. You would be hardpressed to find anyone on the streets that knows any of these. Heck, I listen to the metal channel on Sirius all the time and these bands are never played there either.

I really liked Grip, Inc.

Not sure if they are doing anything anymore, but the few albums they released were awesome.

I got to see them live in Philly a couple years ago (more like 10 years ago now).

They were top-notch. Awesome vocals, guitars and Dave Lombardo in drums doing some crazy stuff. I really think the "Slayer" mindset was holding back Lombardo. The guy can be very creative when he get's a chance to.

By default, I see all metal bands as overrated. I'll have to say Linkin Park though, at first they were extremely popular but they've gradually become one of the most hated bands out there, I think their music is awesome, Minutes after Midnight was disappointing however.jointed

I wouldn't call Linkin Park metal. Not even their older stuff.

Also, gotta add Ayreon...most of the metalheads I know don't care for them...I think their one of the best Prog bands around:PDarth-Caedus

Could you not just say most underated bands? Metal is fairly limited. Atleast Rock mabye? I can't really think of any underated metal bands anyway, they all sound the same to me eventually. I can think of many overated ones though.

Just flicked through them, and yeah, save for the second one which sounded awful to me (Sorry), they do sound very samey. Most of them sounded like songs I've already heard, just slight variations on the metal theme. They didn't really do anything for me. It's not that I don't like metal, it's just that I find most of it dervivtive. Even from your examples I felt like I had heard those songs a million times before, except for the second one, which I never want to hear again.
