[QUOTE="Darth-Caedus"][QUOTE="cyberdarkkid"]Overkill, Testament, Nevermore, Metal Church, and Sodom are the only ones I can remember since there are so many. and there are also some other bands but I can understand them because they're barely starting.

I wouldn't call Testament or Nevermore underrated...Testament are fairly popular, and Nevermore are treated like the gods they are...

Well I haven't really heard anyone talk about Testament here or at school. I've heard of Nevermore being talked about here (and a lot :P) but not in other places. That's pretty much how I base bands popularities or I would just look at how many people go to their gigs.

[QUOTE="Ek-Andy"]

[QUOTE="Darth-Caedus"]Metal sounds the same to you?:| ThisSounds like thisOr thisOr thisOr this?Darth-Caedus

Just flicked through them, and yeah, save for the second one which sounded awful to me (Sorry), they do sound very samey. Most of them sounded like songs I've already heard, just slight variations on the metal theme. They didn't really do anything for me. It's not that I don't like metal, it's just that I find most of it dervivtive. Even from your examples I felt like I had heard those songs a million times before, except for the second one, which I never want to hear again.

Er...allright then... No love for Unexpect huh?

I just had a bit of a listen to unexpect, and it sounds like something that would probably take a little bit to get used to :P But I suppose it could be that there was so many different elements to it, bombarding me all at once, so it probably made it a bit difficult to pick out what sounds I like.

If you go to any metal related forum, your bound to hear plent talk about both of them:P Of course half of it is elitists bashing them for not being underground enough >.> :P

Yeah, the entire avant-garde metal genre is pretty inaccessible:P But awesome once you learn to appreciate it:P

I only heard of Metallica like a week ago. St.Anger seems to be their best CD.

Hockey_Slayer

St. Anger? Are you joking me? That is just sad. Master of Puppets is the best. And they have not been underated since 1984 my man.

I personally consider Kill em All and Justice (Justice being the album that got me into metal :D ) to be my favourite Metallica albums, with RtL coming 3rd, and then MoP......but I guess that's just me :P

Uhhh there's counless of underrated bands in metal because the genre lacks much potential for commercial success at the moment, especially the extreme metal subgeneres. That being said some lesser known ones that deserve a bit of a boost would be: Agathodaimon, Arsis, Brain Drill, Catamenia, Diabolical Masquerade, Dragonlord, Gallhammer, Inevitable End, Kiuas, Novembre, Paths of Possession, Vesperian Sorrow, Warbringer, Windir, Wintersun, and Zimmers Hole.

There are plenty of underrated groups out there, both metal and not metal, and I'd like to mntion them all, but these are just once that I consider to be realtively unkown a a large scale and need a boost in popularity the most. And of course I'd like to give a shout out to my two favorite underrated bands, Nevermore and Strapping Young Lad! One can also not forget about Devin Townsend's solo work, the guy is a modern musical genius. You guys should check some fo these bands out!

I wouldn't say Mastodon are underrated, they've been getting lots of media coverage now, and a lot of people like them. They are still awesome. One band I think is underrated, and plays a style similar to Mastodon, is The Sword. Check these songs out: The White SeaHow Heavy This Axe

Origin, maybe even Suffocation at times. I dunno, I can't really think of many bands that I listen to that are "underrated", but a ton of them don't get enough attention, like Kalmah.

Meshuggah's obZen album was pretty well recieved, but I think it deserved more credit. It is, to date, my favourite metal album.

The Decade of Statues

Sun of Nothing (Live)

Reaction + Shevanel Take 2

Alaska

The Human Abstract (Their first album Nocturne is mindblowingly awesome! AJ Minette is one of the best guitarists around today IMO)

Nightrage (Considering their original singer was the same singer from At the Gates it's surprising they don't get much any recognition)

overkill is known, but extremely underated thrash band, they do not get the credit they desirve "WE ARE THE WRECKING CREW" ,

also mercyful fate and venom especially are underrated, they along with motorhead pretty much influenced thrash, and the two of them pretty much wrote the blueprints for black metal lyrical themes and vocal styles.

metal church is another overlooked thrash band.

EDIT : destruction, the third band of the big 3 teutonic thrash, a lot of people havnt even heard of them. and while we are at it, artillary.

get peace sells, so far so good so what, rust in peace, countdown to extinction ( not thrash but still good) , the system has failed, and united abominations.. and listen in that order. peace sells, and rust in peace are unrivaled technically by any other thrash band, and rust in peace is still my favorite thrash album. killing is my business has some of mustaine's most amazing, rediculous, and technically complex riffs.. listening to kimg or loved to death still blows my mind.. i hope you got the remastered version.. much better production, but get these boots from the orig since remastered is cencored .. every other 5 seconds is a bleep. its a great song otherwise.

Are you kidding me?? I only heard of Metallica like a week ago. St.Anger seems to be their best CD.

Hockey_Slayer

Here is my all time favorite song PERIOD. It is from Metallixa titled One. I like Older Metallica. The last album they made that I think is good is "And Justice For All", this is what the song "One" is from.
