Terminator 2
Aliens
Letters from Iwo Jima (sort of a sequal to Flags of our Fathers, right?)mrbojangles25
I'm not sure about calling it a sequel. It's more of a concurrent film. It's kind of hard to explain but they kind of go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly.
Well, I see that everyone got SW:TEBS already, so I am actually going to say The Chronicles of Riddick. It is far superior to Pitch Black.SpaceMoose
i didnt like Riddick a bit imo, mine it has to be terminator 2, X2, spider man 2, LOTR two towers, cant think of nay others,
Terminator 2
Aliens

Yea i guess, how is that movie anyways? I've had it since it came out, yet i still have not watched it.

It is AMAZING
I especially love the contrasting beliefs between the older Japanese officers and the younger enlisted men. Good action, awesome "lessons" and philosophical ponderings. Plus Ken Watanabe is a great actor.
The Lord Of The Rings: Two Towers, Spider-Man 2, X-Men 2, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Toy Story 2, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Aliens off of the top of my head.
It just goes to show that there is no excuse for making a craptacular cash in sequel when other film makers have managed to outdo the original film. Some remakes have even bettered the original movies ( King Kong, The Hills Have Eyes, The Thing etc.).
Resident Evil Apocolypse

There is no god >_>
Seriously, I actually thought the first Resident Evil was a pretty decent popcorn flick while Resident Evil: Apocalypse is probably one of my least favourite movies ever and probably one of the worst sequels ever IMO (After Batman & Robin and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem).
I agree with the mentions for Spiderman 2, X-Men 2, and Terminator 2. I also liked Aliens better than Alien, although they are completely different films.
Other choices:
Toy Story 2 - Better story, better animation, great new cast of characters.
Blade 2 - It had Ron Perlman and a better director (just please oh god don't ever mention the third movie).

Wow dude, I was going to say that. Haha, I looked up at my movie shelf and thats the first I thought of :P
Ummm, Predator 2
The Bourne Ultimatum
Resident Evil Apocolypsejust a few
Matt2556
Ugh... RE:A was total and utter garbage, one of the worst movies I have ever seen. And Predator 2 is not better than the first.
I agree with Bourne Ultimatum however.

And RE doesn't end at Apocalpyse or even Extinction. If you watched the movie you'd know by watching the final scenes.

Sounds good, I' ll watch it over easter break.
Bourne Ultimatum.
Mission Impossible 3.

MI3 is great, way better then 2. Watched 2 in theatres what a **** movie. Glad movie tickets back then were like 4 bucks. lol

Woa Woa Woa. WTF dude? You saying that Predator2 was better than the near-perfect action film that was the original? HOW!?

The point is that it was considerably better that Pitch Black, which was the first one. I never said it was a great movie in and of itself, although it is okay. I was also looking for a movie that hadn't already been mentioned here a dozen times.
I completely disagree with everyone saying Terminator 2 was better than the original.
The original was a dark, fast paced, visceral, brutal film that consistently gave a feeling of the impending inevitable confrontation. It was well acted and Arnie as the terminator was absolutely believable in every respect. The bond that grew between Sarah and Reese was perfectly paced and convincing. While the second was not at all a bad film, it just wasn't nearly as intense.
Having the terminator play the protector of John in the second film really helped take a certain emotional gravity out of the experience. In the first, Kyle and Sarah were no match for their adversary, and it showed. They were worn down, always tired, on the run and in desperation basically for most of the film. In the second, it is machine against machine. Sure, the T-1000 was much more advanced, but not so much that the older model terminator didn't have the ability to slow it down. This was not the case in the first. If it appeared, they were pretty much screwed. Same in T2, sure, but John and Sarah had more security and consequently the gravity of the situation was not as present as in the original.
Also, various things about the second bothered me a bit. Like the terminator learning to be "more human" and such. The attempt to humanize the terminator fell flat on it's face and took away the believability to me. After seeing the first one, watching the "I know now why you cry, but it's something I can never do." scene made me cringe.
While T2 was a very enjoyable experience, I really think the original is a much better film.

When did I ever say that it ended at Apocalypse? I don't see that in my post. I saw Extinction, it was better than RE2 but still pretty bad.
*SPOILER*
I love how in the 3rd one they do all of this stuff to try to kill her to get her blood, and then at the end they tell her she has the cure for the virus, and she says "I'm on my way."
That was such a bad ending.
what movie sequels would you honestly admit are better then the original film? ill start:
Aliens (watching it right now too..)
aliens really is better then alien 1 in almost ever way. besides just being a kick ass movie, it also contained some truly memorable quotes. whenever i think of the franchise i think of private hudson shouting "GAME OVER MAN, GAME OVER!!!!"
REforever101
I disagree. The first one was better in my opinion. The second was more of a blockbuster. Thats not to say that I don't love it.
I agree. Spider-man 3 on the other hand, was one of the worst sequels in recent memory. Can't think of many other sequels that were better than the original though. I'll think about it.what do you guys think about spider man 2?
i think it was a little better then the first one
REforever101
28 Weeks LaterEl-Visitante
I totally disagree, 28 weeks later was good, but lacked the atmosphere, tension and great characters of the original. Plus 28 weeks later didnt have Brenden Gleeson, who is more awesome than anyone in 28 weeks later. I also Disagree with Aliens, I though Alien was alot better, It was scarier and had much more tension.

I know i am going to get so much crap for this, but I thought Alien 3 was better than 2 and almost as good as 1. * grabs flame shield*
[QUOTE="Junkie_man"][QUOTE="web966"][QUOTE="Junkie_man"]No-one's said Kill Bill 2 yet. I was left slightly underawed by the first; it seemed like it was just setting the scenario with a big fight at the end. The second was genious though. Pai Mei has to be one of the best characters ever invented.web966
I see Kill Bill as one movie. The reason people didnt like Vol. 1 as much as Vol.2 because Vol. 1 is really just half a movie. Watching the two back to back really makes you appreciate Vol.1 much more.
True, but volume 2 stands better as a single film.
No argument there.
Yeah in my opinion, making Vol. 1 was a mistake. They could have just shorten volume one by taking out all the useless fluff of developing some characters the audience didn't really care about, and combined it with Volume 2. It would have truly been a much more cohesive enjoyable experience.I know i am going to get so much crap for this, but I thought Alien 3 was better than 2 and almost as good as 1. * grabs flame shield*
Film-Guy
I thought Alien 3 was pretty good as well. I wouldn't go as far as saying that it was better than Aliens, but as a horror moive, it built up tension pretty well, something that the action heavy sequel failed to do. It made good use of the prison setting and its ending would have been a prefect end to the series had Resurrection not reared its ugly head.
The Road Warrior.
Vis-a-Vis
Oh **** yeah, forgot that one. Much better than Mad Max. Just don't mention Thunderdome...

UR right, I saw pitch black first. Later when Chronicles of Riddick hit the cinema's I saw the trailer. It looked very crapy, so I decided to to go. Untill I gave the dvd a try. Boy was I wrong, Chronicles of Riddick was superiour in every way to pitch black

you people are crazy, chronicles was pathetic. its a good example of what happens when you put to much money into something, it lost all creativity. im all for action films but they can go to far... he used a bottle of water to protect himself from 2000 degree heat :| and the plot was terrible, its was just a random chain of events. however the ending, i think almost saves the film, its was actually very good
its still not as bad a choice as predator 2 though.... WHAT THE HELL!!
