Movie Trailer - Ghostbusters (2016)

After tons of hate, worry and venom, Sony has finally released a trailer for the new version of Ghostbusters...

And it's...okay. It's not the end of the world abomination everyone made it out to be, just different. I know there's people pissed that's it a group of women in the role, or claiming it's nothing more than to satisfy the SJW agenda. The REAL reason the movie is coming out is because Sony is running low on bankable film franchises--plain and simple. The Resident Evil series is ending, and Spider-Man is put on hold, so this is what they're putting out for the time being. It can't possibly be any worse than the Independence Day sequel we're getting 20 years too late...or the P.O.S that was Pixels last year. AT worst, there's always the original on Blu-Ray, (Part two was, and still is crap, no matter what.)

Looks pretty shitty, and the humor really falls flat. That said, if the kids want to see it I'll probably take them.

Yeah I think it's looking ok and those are some very funny women in there.

...Well, if anything, at least they tried to give the female Winston sub some kind of bigger role, rather than being the audience POV. That's kinda what I'd like to ask for at the least. The movie looks like it's going to follow the original plot pretty closely. They first encounter a ghost in the library, they try to talk to it,it flips out on them. You've got Egon showing off the trap. Then the finale has them at night for the final fight. I don't think a sequel would follow the original so closely.

Then again there was TFA lol. [If you guys get my drift on TFA]

My only fear is Melissa Macarthy ruining the movie with tryhard stupidity. Rest cast and premise looks good. Even they got the main theme right. Ghostbusters 1 and 2 had solid music, specially 2. Will check it out when it releases,Thanks for the vid link Hallenbeck :)

@indzman: No problem. Maybe it's just because of me getting older, but I just don't get worked up when Hollywood makes another sequel/reboot/comic book movie like some people. I think there's a mentality that because people grew up fans of a particular IP, they should cater to those who were around when said property were released, and I never understood that. With that said, it looks like it could be a decent enough movie to see at a matinee showing.

I haven't seen the original movie ( I know.. I will at some point :P ), but this doesn't look interesting at all tbh.

Please see OG Ghostbusters Harry, it may've aged compared to today but if you love any 80's comedy movies you will definately love it for the Humour from the cast and solid OST. Very stylish and entertaining movie for its time. :)

All of them better than the male counterparts.

I did it for Bill Murray, which is why I enjoy OG Ghostbusters when I was a kid 9 years old.

Like almost all re-makes, this one will suck hard, fade away into obscurity, and the original will continue to be one of the most cherished films.

Well, it doesn't look at as bad as I was expecting, but it doesn't really look amazing either. I'll most likely give a shot.

I'll see it for sure. But I'm a bit confused. It many ways it seems to be retreading the same steps of the first movie, which would be fine if they were simply retelling same story with new cast and setting and its own creative liberties and such. But they're already self-aware in the trailer of the previous team. And here the new one is looking to start much the exact same way the other did, group of academic researchers take on a ghost extermination service, take on a blue collar black woman and get a hearse, work out of a firehouse.... I'm totally fine with them retelling the original film in a modern setting with new actors, but it would just be a bit forced if it was supposed to be canon with the other films.

Man the ending with Leslie Jones was excruciating.

Those CGI ghosts just don't have that Ghostbuster vibe. Maybe it's me.

@br0kenrabbit: I'm curious on the overall creature design.. Some of the CG ghosts look a bit hokey, but let's be honest, some of the effects of the original didn't age so well, either. Stop motion puppets, hand drawn animation, and inserted matte paintings look dated. Not that they look awful, they dont.

Can't see this being very good, like most remakes.

Unless people rant and rave about it when it comes out I'll wait to rent it. It really didn't do much for me

Anyone notice the black character is a pretty racist depiction of a black person? She's like a big offensive walking caricature/stereotype - an Aunt Jemima. Winston on the other hand was one cool cat.

@KHAndAnime: To be fair, Winston didn't have a lot of dialogue. Not only that, Ernie Hudson, who's not a comedic actor, wasn't even the original choice for the role--Eddie Murphy had the part until he dropped out because he had to film Beverly Hills Cop. It was supposed to be 4 comedic actors--but instead it was three and a straight man. I imagine that Hudson's dialogue wasn't really fleshed out because Murphy probably would have had the freedom to ad-lib.

From what I understand, the one currently playing Patty (the character's name, forget the actress' real name) is supposed to be a comedic actor as well. I can't pass judgment on whether or not it's a racist caricature based off of 20 seconds of a 2 minute trailer. It could be worse--at least it doesn't seem like something grossly offensive like Stepin Fetchit.

I'll say the same thing here as I said on Gaf: My nostalgia prevents me from seeing this in a new light. I was hoping for a Ghostbusters 3 and instead we got a reboot after all this time. *sigh*I did not laugh once at this trailer and the ghosts were predominantly blue. lol. Wasn't for me.

Looks about as by the numbers as possible, but Melissa Mccarthy is insufferable. She's the comedic equivalent of the weirdo in high school who ate worms so everyone would know he's crazy. Her entire acting persona revolves around being the loud fat lady. Damn has than worn thin.....

After watching the trailer. That was worse then gods of Egypt. The Ghosts are horrible.

@hallenbeck77: Judging just by the trailer, the creature designs in the reboot all look pretty much like human ghosts.

The creature designs of the originals where monsters/critters with humanoid features.

That was a horrible trailer; music was disjointed, there was no real connection between the various characters...no synergy.

With that said, I am a fan of those actors and I am looking forward to the film. Not expecting a lot, just a fun movie that pays homage to the classics while still being it's own entity.

Worth a watch I suppose but it gives me a very Nickelodeon feel.

@PSP107: The trailer does leave a lot to be desired, there's no question, but then again, at least it's not pulling a Batman v Superman or a Terminator Genysis by showing everything except the end credits in the trailer. It's only the first one, so they got time to get another one that'll make people somewhat interested. I had absolutely no expectations for this whatsoever--I was like "what do you know" after seeing it. Sony is in for a long, uphill climb in trying to make sure this movie is a hit--or at least marginally profitable.

@PSP107: Yeah, meant the 1st trailer. Sony is hoping this will do well enough for a sequel, but like I said, it's an uphill climb.

It doesn't look too bad ... and I actually chuckled at the face-slapping "exorcism", even though I'm White. :-P

Truth be told, it makes me feel a bit sorry for the producers that the thumbs-up-thumbs-down split on the YouTube trailer is around 35/65.

And Hollywood can't be accused of giving every remake a "PC" makeover: The Pete's Dragon remake is still "Pete's Dragon" (not "Petra's Dragon").
