This is my list of movies that I think everyone (and I mean everyone) should see before they die.

The Godfather

The Godfather Part 2

Scarface

Untouchables

The Exorcist

Rosemary's Baby

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the old one)

Stanley Kubrick's The Shining

Night of the Living Dead

Terminator

Terminator 2

Star Wars 4-6 (maybe 1-3, but I don't necessarily know it's THAT good that it should be in this particular list)

Lord of the Rings trilogy

Casablanca

North by Northwest

Psycho

The Birds

Gone With the Wind

Gettysburg

Andersonville

Dracula

Frankenstein

Guys and Dolls

1984

Saving Private Ryan

Full Metal Jacket

Clockwork Orange

Donnie Darko

The Thin Red Line

John Carpenter's Halloween

Back to the Future

American History X

Pulp Fiction

Schindler's List

E.T.

Forest Gump

Reservoir Dogs

Blazing Saddles

Young Frankenstein

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

(Bold titles are movies I added to the original post)

...I know there are tons more, but those are the first ones to come to mind. Make your list of movies everyone should see before they die. I'd love to see some new movies, new or classic, so make your lists, too. If nobody else is curious, I am.

I liked 300, but I didn't know that it was quite good enough for this list.

Leon: the professional.

Saving Private Ryan.

A Clockwork Orange.

Starship Troopers.

super_mario_128

I can definitely agree with Saving Private Ryan and Clockwork Orange. Saving Private Ryan reminded me that Full Metal Jacket also needed to be on my list.

I agree with Halloween and Back to the Future. I don't think The Blair Witch Project was that good, really. I love your Pennywise sig, by the way.

Look at the way it's filmed. Look at how the tension is built over time, and how it pays off near the end. Of course it's not as scary as it used to be, because Michael Myers has been overexposed to the point that he's lost most of his mystique. Whenever I watch Halloween, I make myself forget the sequels and rip-offs. When I do that, the artistry is almost Hitchcock level.

Well, nothing worked for me in the movie. I understand what you said, but the only part I found slightly creepy was when he stares at Laurie from the other garden, and is then gone. It's a good movie, but not as good as everyone says, in my opinion.

I agree. John Carpenter did an excellent job with Halloween. I don't know that I've ever such good pacing in a movie since Halloween. On that note, what did you think of Rob Zombie's remake? I liked the first half of the movie really well, but second half was just rehashed from the original and note made anywhere near as good.

It's a good film, if overhyped. Brad Pitt is awesome in it.

Were you too afraid it would be disappointing? It's not so bad that I'd avoid seeing it. As I said, the first half was much more interesting than the second half. I'd probably give it a 3.5/5 if I were doing a review of it.

I might catch it if it comes on television. Otherwise, I've got thousands of other movies to watch first.

Me neither, I mean, Rocky goes through all that, and builds himself up, and he's the working class hero, and you are cheering for him, and you just know he'll win...then he loses...
it's soul crushing.

Rocky and Rocky Balboa are really the only decent ones. They are good movies even though they sometimes get a bad rep. I don't feel like making a list but here are some films I would include: Fargo, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Reservoir Dogs, Die Hard, Evil Dead II, + some classics (Godfather, etc.).

You mentioning Reservoir Dogs just reminded me of Pulp Fiction, another classic by Tarantino.
