[QUOTE="whos_next000"][QUOTE="super_mario_128"]I couldn't stand the series. I have no love for Rocky and it's sequels.super_mario_128

Rocky and Rocky Balboa are really the only decent ones. They are good movies even though they sometimes get a bad rep. I don't feel like making a list but here are some films I would include: Fargo, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Reservoir Dogs, Die Hard, Evil Dead II, + some classics (Godfather, etc.).

You mentioning Reservoir Dogs just reminded me of Pulp Fiction, another classic by Tarantino.

I was going to mention that one, but I forgot >_> I still think I like Reservoir Dogs a tad better than Pulp Fiction, though. Both are great movies. It's sad to see Tarantino decline like he has been.

I like Kill Bill, regardless of what the critics think. One of the most enjoyable movies I've ever seen. Although his newest movie (forgotten the name) sounds quite bad, judging on how low the publicity it's getting.

I did enjoy the Kill Bill series, also, but it just wasn't as good as his beginning stuff. Death Proof (his newest movie you forgot the name of) was probably his worse movie to date.

A few scenes of it are good, but 75% of it feels just like filler.

Yes to Pulp Fiction, but no to the other movies I'm seeing. I should've also added Schindler's List and E.T. to my original list.

I just looked through your lists again.

Reservoir Dogs, Blazing Saddles, and Young Frankenstein do need to be added as well. I never saw Annie Hall or Airplane!, and Wayne's World sucked, in my opinion. Kill Bill was okay, but nowhere near as good as Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs.

You should watch Annie Hall. One of the best romantic comedies ever and a really young Chris Walken. What about Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Fargo? Oh, and Requiem For a Dream.

I saw American History X, and I personally thought it was an excellent movie. Maybe a bit on the melodramatic side story-wise, but still an excellent movie. I couldn't find many things bad to say about it.

Masterworks. With the exception of Hitchcock in the fifties, nobody had a better decade than Coppola in the seventies. Kinda strange how his work before and afterward is so underwhelming.

I agree. What other good films did Coppola make in the 70s besides Godfather 1 and 2? I'd like to see more of his work during that time period.

Rocky was the peak of Stallone. It was his best role in any movie and it was also the best script he's ever written. You can tell from watching it (especially the final boxing scene) how much emotion he put into the movie. It's pretty amazing for someone who before one movie practically no one has heard of to become a household name and a huge star and make a movie that everyone knows by heart. He made the classic David vs. Goliath story in modern times and characters everyone can relate to and love. I would write more, but I haven't seen it in awhile. Rocky is a good movie, though. Sure it will never reach the prestige or excellence of a Scorsese movie, but it is still pretty good.

Alfred Hitchcock did do a bunch of excellent movies, but I decided to only list what I consider his two best, Psycho and The Birds. I didn't want a list of twenty Hitchcock films.

It's a brilliant film. If you've ever seen a thriller about a guy wiretapping someone else, this is where it comes from. It's rather overlooked, but it's one of the finest character-study/thrillers you'll see.

I wish I had died after watching the Godfather, I wanted 3 hours of my life back.lucas_kelly

I'll come and kill you now if you wish. Can't have people dishonouring the name of Don Vito.

Sure it will never reach the prestige or excellence of a Scorsese movie, but it is still pretty good. whos_next000

the amount of people that like a movie doesnt determine its quality. rocky pulls his punches for a greater mass appeal. the david vs goliath angle is done in almost every sports movie. its not as interesting. now rocky isnt a bad movie, but it gets way more respect than it actually deserves. raging bull surpasses it in writing, acting, themes, and camera work. but it gets thrown aside by the public for an inferior movie because it doesnt have a lovable main character.

The Godfather is an amazing film. The way the story is built up is amazing. The script was increadible. Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, and Robert Duval all did absolutely amazing acting. Out of all the movies I've seen that included Brando, I'd say this was his best role. Michael Corleone was also an excellent part for Pacino, but I thought he was just made for Tony Montana, so Michael Corleone was a close second for him. The movie was overall amazing, and despite the lengthy 3 hour time length, I sat through this whole movie without feeling like I'd just sat through a 3 hour movie. And I've done that many, many, many, many times in my life.

Also, the book is an excellent read. Not to be off topic, but I think the book is just about as good as the movie (from what I've read - which is about the first half).
