Which movies, that you've seen, did you watch and say to yourself "Wtf happened here? This movie was so rock solid! What went wrong!?" I understand that directing a movie or writing a screenplay is complicated work, but every once in a while, a movie comes out that is basically a handout and the parties involved had no right to mess it up. Which movies do you think fall in this category? Here are a few to get us started:
Max Payne - All they had to do was have some great narration and senseless killing. I know the game had a great story, but I would have been content with some bullet-time induced mass killings. How they messed this one up is beyond me. I mean this movie was a free pass. In fact now that I think of it, they should just take Pay Back, change a few things and call it Max Payne. Payback has the gritty look, the great melodratic narration, and the hero who just wont be put down.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Come on...for the love of God. This movie should have been a quick 1 - 2 hit. Unlike the Xmen movies where they had to write a new plot, this was basically just recounting what happened in the comics. It should have been a simple copy paste job. It started off well enough with the scenes of all the great wars, then it just went south from there. They should have taken the "Watchmen" approach, were they copy-paste everything word for word. Dont even try to embellish, just copy everything, even the dialog. I mean look at Watchmen. It turned out pretty good because apart from a few changes, they stuck to the books perfectly.
