[QUOTE="MrGeezer"]

Really? That was a great movie, besides that lame cotton candy dragon he rode on. The werewolf was pretty freaky, but I saw it as a kid so maybe all this is nostalgia.

[QUOTE="MrGeezer"]

Terminator Salvation. I almost don't even think this should be included, since it didn't really even start out good. But I have to include it for this reason: how the **** can you **** up a damn future war Terminator movie? It has all the recipes for success, lots of guns, lots of killer robots and people fighting killer robots. And they weren't even just generic killer robots either, they were ****ing TERMINATORS. How do you **** that up?

Rekunta

Hollywood.

Sunshine. It was actually a pretty damn cool movie, right up until the point where Insane Invincible Serial Killer decides to **** everything up and turn the whole movie into a repeat of damn Event Horizon. Why did they need a ****ing crazy invincible murderer subplot at all?

MrGeezer

Is that the one where the guy goes on the shooting spree in the park? If so, that one scene makes the movie, I'm sorry.

No, Sunshine was that Danny Boyle movie starring Cilian Murphy, about the astronauts who are on a mission to the sun. The initial premise seemed sort of silly to me, I admit. It's like, the sun is dying so these guys are on a ship to launch some kind of fusion device into the sun in order to jump-start it again, and prevent the death of everyone on earth. Silly premise, but the movie was actually pretty solid up until the third act. It was sort of sad, tragic, filled with disaster and difficult decisions, and you could actually relate to the characters, even the ones who you want to hate for ****ing up. Then I guess the writers sort of ran out of story, so they decided to just throw in some Crazy ****ed-Up Religious Fanatic Serial Killer just to kill everyone off. Could have been a great movie, but it got totally ****ed up.

And as far as why I hate The Neverending Story, here's a link to the more detailed answer...

I can't believe noone has mentioned the Star Wars prequels.

They were supposed to be about the rise of Darth Vader, and they had one of the most interesting and beloved universes in all of sci-fi to work with. There's absolutely no excuse for how godawful these movies turned out

The funny thing is that Max Payne was the first movie to pop into my head when I read the title. Such a wasted opportunity...I don't think I've ever been more angry at a movie as I was walking out of the theatre.

And now Max Payne 3 looks like its going to disappoint as well...I think I'll just go into a state of denial that they both exist and just pretend that the DOA ending from two is the true and final ending to the Max Payne saga.

Well, at least the series ended on a high note, and Revenge of the Sith was actually pretty freaking cool. Which is more than I can say about Return of the Jedi and the damn Ewoks.

But yeah, I admit that the first two prequel movies sort of sucked.

Revenge of the Sith sucked too. The opening space battle and the scene in the opera house with palpatine were the only good parts. Padme dying of a broken heart, and that scene where Vader shouts "nooooooo" as the room comes apart were laugh out loud funny they were so bad. And Anakin's transition to evil was about the most poorly explained, non-sensical thing I've seen. One minute he's a nice guy and the next he's murdering kids. It made no friggin sense.

Darth Vader butchered a whole temple full of children. And most importantly, there were no freaking Ewoks. So yes, Revenge of the Sith was better than Return of the Jedi.

Public Enemies. I guess I can't call it bad, but a movie that was SO well made had no excuse to be so...uninteresting.

Rockclmbr6
they thought if they just put bail and depp in the same movie it would work i guess they where wrong again.

Oh, I was thinking of Happiness I guess (if that's the one with the pedophile). I think I'll skip Sunshine....I remember seeing the trailer and being reminded of The Core, which was terrible. Not TOTAL crap, but pretty bad.

About your post below: what's up with all the Ewok hate? I've never understood it. Yea, it was revenge of the teddy bears, but in a movie with talking fish heads they were tolerable. Certainly not bad enough to ruin an otherwise decent movie.I did cheer when that one Ewok bit the dust though. Surely a rewind moment.

[QUOTE="DigitalExile"]

1) I Am Legend- the ending was ridiculous.

"We can escape"

"NO I'M GONNA STAY HERE"

"But we can just go, look, the door is open and everything"

"NO I'M GONNA LOCK THE DOOR"

"But the zombies don't even care... you can just walk past them...."

"NO SAVE YOURSELVES *sacrifice*"

and the book had a better story anyway.

gamer_10001

Alternate ending makes the movie 100x better.

I highly diagree. The alternative ending is much worse. He lives but loses the cure for the virus? I would much rather watch him sacrifice himself in order save the rest of humanity than give up the only hope because he was a *****.

You missed the point. Humanity does not NEED saving. The "monsters" that Will Smith was killing ARE humanity, with the ability to love, learn, and reason. These creatures were appalled at the capture of one of their own, they were highly intelligent, and they actually trapped the main character and then later stormed his lair. "Saving" humanity makes no sense in this context, because the "monsters" were every bit as loyal and deserving of life as Will Smith. The extended ending makes a HUGE difference, because it actually follows up on the themes which had been running throughout the entire freaking movie. The huge wall showing pictures of the people that Will Smith had killed? Does that mean nothing? These were all people with sons and daughters and mothers, and the "monsters" were grieving every single time Will Smith murdered one of them in order to find his damn "cure".

**** the cure. The cure was merely a plot device to get Will Smith to tear families apart and murder sentient human beings. In a world in which he is utterly alone, he was actually murdering hundreds of people in a desperate quest to alleviate his own loneliness. THAT was his sin, his monstrous act, and at least the alternate ending had him REALIZE this.

I agree, Wolverine would have been better had they stuck with the story in the comics. A little variation is fine but what they did in that movie was an abomination. Even though it would have meant an "R" rating (since it's very bloody and violent), it would've been 100x better.

elblanquito_81

Any movie with a R rating is better than if it were rated PG13... Thats just the studio's attempt to try and brag the little preteens that get all dressed up to go to the movies, borrow their mom's money and maketheir parentsbring them to the movies with their girlfriends. (i used to work at the movies)

the hulk (eric bana)- wasnt a superhero movie imo, there was no true bad guy and my goodness was it dull and boring x-men origins:wolverine- hate to say it but yeah, beginning dragged way too long and not as bad ass as the wolverine in the first x-men, plus dead pool died way too easily. transformers 2- not exactlly bad, not that great either, too many plot holes in it, there were more holes in it than swiss cheese going against a full mafia with just a pistol

Wanted.

My reaction first time seeing it. And a friend explaing it to me.

"Wow this is AWESOME! Did you just see that he curved the bullet.

Wait....

Loom of what......? fate?

Soo.....they get their contracts from....mistakes in cloth?"

"yep, basically."

Needless to say I called shenanagines.

Tht1Guy7780

You know, it's obvious the loom is useless. The medieval assassins just made up this thing, and the contemporary assassins use it as an excuse and because they're accustomed to it. It's also obvious Morgan Freeman is making up the names.

On topic - OldBoy. Sounds great on paper, but the movie is a piece of crap.

Quantum of Solace, how in gods name after the brilliance of Casino Royale which perfectly blended the spectacle of a bond film with the grittiness of the Bourne films go to this, a generic action movie with ghastly editing and a main character who spends 99% of the film with a scowl on his face.

Two words : Writer Strike

Put it this way, QoS wasn't perfect but its not like it ruined the series or anything, it just means we will have to wait alittle longer for the next great one, I just hope they dont dumb down the next bond film because of fanboys b***hing about thegrittyness
