[QUOTE="CocoMarshmellow"] 'cus a movie has no value at all beyond its basic plot... :roll:CocoMarshmellow
He's basically right though, it's just a sci-fi version of Dances with Wolves- a worse version at that.
Well, FernGully (1992) is just Dances With Wolves (1990) but in a forest. Pocahontas (1995) is also the same as the other two, but with a different setting and characters, and Battle for Terra (2007) is the same as all of them as well.
Does that mean that they are all bad movies? Actually, they are all terrible, but for other reasons. >_>
Who the **** watches a movie for its plot alone? I watched Avatar and enjoyed it. Sure, it had a predictable and clichéd plot... But it was still ****ing entertaining. The action was cool, the acting wasn't bad enough ruin it (yay), and it was ****ING BEAUTIFUL! It had me entertained throughout the entire film.
Special effects can only augment what is already there, and since there isn't that much there with Avatar, it just becomes a (very boring) tech demo. I was very excited for the movie, and it turned out to be one of the most disappointing movies in recent history for me (perhaps second only to Inception, which was a huge disappointment as well).
Everything up until he meets the tribe, was unbelievably engaging and riveting. Then someone put a bad version of Dances with Wolves on, and I struggled to stay awake for the rest of it. I might have liked it more if I was a little kid again, but I need more than just good effects to keep me interested nowadays.
The Godfather. D:Dark__Linkಠ_ಠ I haven't seen Fight Club or Donnie Darko, though I only have an interest in the former.
I actually liked Avatar.:D Plot could had been better.:P

You don't say lol.
Anyways I found it to be bearable. Wouldn't watch it again. Wouldn't recommend it either.
Go watch sahwshank now!
It was lame for people who had high expectations for the movie, like me.there's too much hate on Avatar.
i loved that movie.

there's only a limited number of plots.
many movies follow the formula Avatar had.
but it was still a fantastic movie.

You went to Avatar expecting a good plot?
Why would you expect anything more than a pretty-looking action movie? That's all it was ever hyped as (as far as I know...)

This picture doesn't do the movie justice. There was at least 3 times as much pew involved.I've never seen the Matrix sequels, Slumdog Millionaire or Hurt Locker.
What say you, OT?
mrmusicman247
Pretty much the ones you mentioned. I haven't seen any of those movies.
Something I dont get about people complaining about Avatar. Claiming its not Original. James Cameron took the whole native american and colinization theme and put it in a sci-fi enviornment. not only that but an intire FREAKING WORLD, ecosystem and freaking language...Thats pretty original to me.
Hell at its core the first star wars films were a rescue the princess story and a young man facing evil story
The Godfathers, Jaws, 5 Star Wars, a lot of Oscar movies.
binpink
you haven't seen those movies? :o
you? you?
