just curious... besides most of the boring old loops in game play, i'm curious about what youlike to hear while playing games... if you listen to music at all... mostly if possible i just turn the in game music off and jam my nine inch nails in the background! i posted a blog earlier about it. and obviously i'm new here. i sold my 360 and came back to playing PC games for a while. at any rate, what to you like in your ears while killing people is what i'm asking? and not really in a morbid way, just curious. and i'll plug myself here for a minute... i have been remixing nine inch nails (trent reznors') music since 2001. you can find some here at my myspace... www.myspace.com/wretchedreflections or go to www.ninremixes.com and search dj wretched... i have over 4 hours of NIN music i have remixed. anyways, since i'm new to this site but not to gaming... heck, i've been gaming since the Intelevision in the 80's lmao! just want to meet some cool people who don't cry about noobs... infact, everyone here was a "noob" at one time. so hit me up... right now though (unfortunately) all i am playing is Doom 3, c&c red alert2, and my old favorite Diablo LOD message me, email, add me on mypace or whatever. be safe people. good to be here. death is waiting for us... and i think he's becomnig impaitient lol -bo hobbs (dj wretched) +oh, one other thing... anoyone know about the refresh time on this site as far as changes made to personal info... i have tried and tried to update my profile, icon and banner pictures... but they are staying the same as i choose initially.... ) and ofcourse i click "apply changes". just wondering if it could be an hour a day or what? thank you for any help or response!

Depends on the game... multiplayer shooters or RPG's I always have music playing. In games that have a story to pay attention too, I won't listen to music.

For some good ol' zombie slaughter, I think Du Hast works very well. I just remember Frank mashing some zombie's face with an electric guitar, and my buddy's iPod plugged into the Xbox.

For the blitzkrieg into Poland (or just any WW2 Call of Duty) Rammstein also works.

But the only game that I actually shut off the music and plug in my Zune is GTAIV. Cruising over the bridge and listening to Fake Empire (by The National) and watching the sunset.

Depends on what kind of game I'm playing.

Like, if I'm playing a racing game, then I set a long playlist and just drive while listening to music.

But if I'm listening to anything story driven, then putting on my own playlist is an insult to the supposed artistic integrity that went into the game. I wouldn't watch Aliens while listening to Bob Dylan, and I wouldn't watch Platoon while listening to Green Day. The hell with that. The music was chosen to enhance the emotional and dramatic impact. It's not just there just so the player can have something to hear.

I have a 75 Watt Amplifier for my guitar that plays MP3's, FREAKING LOUD.

I usually listen to musicmost of the time while playing some shooters. Put in some 'A7X', 'Metallica,' ans the usual.

i have a few questions maybe some of you "vets" here on the forums can help me with. i'm not totally ignorant on updating personal info on sites like these... but. i am still not getting the new photo banners and icons on my profile. i've tried to "reset" add new ones and apply changes, but the changes do not take effect. is there something i am missing? and... just curious... i'm interested in you favorite nine inch nails. i know i know, you will be hearing alot of NIN from me here lol. some say i'm the epitmoe of NIN fans haha. at any rate, so, what's your favorite song, album or anything by trent reznor, weither it be through nine inch nails or with other songs he's helped do. my favorite song by nine inch nails it The Wretched i have it tattooed on my right forearm lol, i'll get around to posting pics when i'm at the required level to do so. anyways, good morning lol... coffee and a few vicodin... now it's time to go kill some monsters haha. have fun people. be safe. and another plug if i may "spam" my own "thread" www.myspace.com/wretchedreflections there are approx 10 remixes there. one is new, i had to do a mix of michael jackson's Morphine lol. and here yopu will find over 20 of my nine inch nails remixes. you can listen to them directly on the site or you may download them for free from the site without the hassle of creating an account and validating it through some stupid email. http://ninremixes.com/index.php?squery=dj+wretched ofcourse, you are not obligated to check them out... just an intrest of mine to see what people thing of my remixing. if you do go, please feel free to post you thoughts or even bash them if you so desire... i'm ok with that as well lol. but more importantly, the help with my personal profile issues here would be greatly appreciated... don't you just love "noobs" lmao

It depends, if the music sucks I turn it off and just put on something to suit the game. If nothing suits the game then some heavy metal should do. However, if the music in the game is good i'd listen to that.

If I'm playing a story mode for the first time on a game I don't have music on, If I'm on Fallout 3 I put GNR Radio on :D and if I'm on non-story mode or multiplayer I'll just stick Last.fm on and listen to my library, it's pretty funny when you're playing L4D and suddenly some calm piano music starts playing while you're massacaring zombies. On the other hand, death metal and killing zombies goes hand in hand ;)

Depends on the game, but I'm usually listening to stuff like Blind Guardian, Finntroll, Ensiferum, Tyr, Dimmu Borgir, Amon Amarth et cetera.

Depends, if the game has a good soundtrack I'll just listen to that. If not I put my itunes on shuffle, tis funny when I'm killing people in Prototype and the song goes from a Cradle of Filth one to a Spice Girls one, very jarring. :P

Depends on the game.

If i'm playing any MP game, then i'll jam to my own music, but i'f im playing a single player game, like an RPG or a shooter with a lot of atmosphere, (ala Killzone) Then i'll stick to in-game music, at least until i've completed it once.

For the most part I never play music while I am gaming. Usually anything other then the in game music distracts me. If I do happen to play music, which is rare, I do so when I am either playing multiplayer games or some free roaming game like Saints Row and Grand Theft Auto. The music is usually some form of metal. :P

thank you for this post... i'm 33 years old (well in 2 days i will be) i listen to a wide varity of genres of music from rock, country, techno and classical... heck i even enjoy some of the "big band" era stuff... but the bands you listed here... oddly enough, i don't know of. lol so again thank you, something for me to check out! but me, i have, as stated before been a very hardcore loyal fan of anything trent reznor does. but i do like ministry, older skinny puppy, kmfdm, thrill kill kult, lords of acid and such. i just always related more to reznors' lyrics than any other band/musician out there. i've strayed away from the rap thing though... i'm not hating on it... it just doesn't do it for me anymore lol like when i was 18 and jamming bone thugs hahahaha. BUT!!! if interested i would like to mention a band i have been listening to for about a year now. it's a 3 girl band. mainly just 2 with one drummer who i believe does keyboard and synths... but the band is Robots In Disguise. now, chich bands haven't ever really been my thing besides tori amos (always love tori amos) but robots in disguise are actually really great! look up the video for their song on youtube titled "The Sex Has Made Me Stupid"! lol it's great!

This. If the soundtrack is a score or important to teh game I just listen to the game. however if its uneccassery(fighting, driving) I listen to baseball or sports talk.

i don't know... about in game music... some of it's ok i guess... IMO if it's more on the Industrial rock side without lyrics.
but alot of times i would rather have the music turned off and only here the in game sounds.

but thank you all for your posts here... i have actually read quite a few bands mentioned i've not heard of and will mos def check out!

here's a video i made a few years back... nine inch nails related ofcourse... they did a small tour through KROQ in 2005 and i just simply used windows movie maker to add FX and such... you may or may not enjoy it... but here it is.

The song title is SIN

*oh, and here are somethings from a chicband i mentioned in an earlier post... hope you enjoy it! lol

robots in disguise - the sex has made me stupid (this is quite a funny video)

Usually this. If it's an RPG or game with a deep story I won't listen to music, but I will listen to music if it's a multiplayer game, an action game (Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, etc.), or an RTS.

so, i will post a few links here of my "better" mixes i"ve done and see what you think... if i can get it to work right...
and... with all my remixes... they can be downloaded for free at www.ninremixes.com just search for dj wretched

ok i couldn't get just links to individual songs, so i will just post the link to the page with my 20+ remixes there.

http://ninremixes.com/index.php?squery=dj+wretched

I just listen to whatever music is in the game. It's hardly ever bad. Some games I look forward to listening to, like Super Mario Galaxy and Mega Man 2.

I just listen to the music provided in the games. It would defeat the purpose of playing such games as rock band if I'm listening to different songs.
