There are no more good quality artists from the 60s,70s,80s or 90s.Check out which artists we have now like Bieber,Miley Cyrus,Jonas Brothers. They are all useless and overated artists. Before we had Elvis,The Beatles,Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson to name a few.

There are great artists out there, you just have to get away from top 40 music to find most of them.

I agree that music isn't what it used to be. Not to say all music today is crap, because there is some good stuff. I like the simplicity and the heart and soul from music in the 50's and 60's.

This, you see the problem with this is that that were catered to be mainstream so they ultilise gimmicks and pretty poor simplistic rhythms as that means a simplistic rhythm can appeal to a larger audience of teenage girls as opposed to a sophisicated song. Back in the 80s and before where we didn't have internet we had many songs that were never heard but today we can break away from that and enjoy the more underground songs. The quality of mainstream music is dying but the quality of music in general is around the same as we have other mediums to explore and find to songs to like.

You're just looking in the wrong places. There are many good artists in the post-rock/instrumental genre, you just have to look a bit .

I hardly listen to any music made after 1995. My iPod is around 95% 1960-1995. I just can't find any bands theses days that sound like the great ones of the past.

...no. Good music isnt usually on the radio. Do some research. Im positive you can find an album from 2010 that is either similar to a genre you like, or something new and awesome that you didnt expect to like. Dont look at whats most popular and then call it quits.

I have a feeling that the past generation of adults thought the same thing about the music of their time that we happen to cherish because we despise today's music.

We still have the likes of:

- Hudson Mohawke
- Flying Lotus
- Azari & III
- Sia
- Sigur Ros

- Ratatat
- Hercules & Love Affair
- The Field
- Tensnake
- Ame

The music doesn't stop at the end of the charts, that's just the beginning.

Try Sigur Ros (strange Icelandic post-rock) or Evelyn Evelyn (punk cabaret). With a little bit of lurking, you can find quite a few unique bands.

Listen, people complained about Rock and Roll destroying music back in the day because it was simply about partying, sex and drugs. People are saying the same thing about rap music today. There will always be pretentious idiots complaining about current music while looking to the past for answers. They existed back in the 50s when Elvis was all the rage and they exist today as well.

I used to think the same thing, but I've found so many underground and indie that I listen to that I don't think it's true anymore. Check out bands like Phantogram, Foals, Low, MGMT, and Band of Horses -- those are all great groups. MGMT is a pretty popular group too. ;)

Music is only dead for those too ridiculously lazy to take 5 minutes to search beyond the mainstream for good music, and instead expect it to be spoon fed to them.

Indeed. Hell, it's gotten to the point that I have that sentence added to my Opera notes so I can just paste it in at these threads rather then waste any more time typing out the same thing over and over again every other day...

Well if you live in the UK then get Spotify, its like iTunes without having to pay for it if you dont want to. Also just ask your friends about good music if you cant find it yourself. I actually often find good music on TV shows as well.....just keep your ears open and you will probably hear something you like :)
