Hi, my name is AlanSleep and there is sand in my vagina.

It's just people are too stupid to know good music, plain and simple, nothing complicated about it, a PERSON is smart, the collective whole of humans is stupidity at it's finest so the masses like spoon fed crap that's easy to listen to and catchy. AlanSleepDamn, I'm glad we have you then. Whatever would we do without you?
Or how 'bout there's no such thing as good or bad music (for the most part). There's music that you like, then there's music that I like, then there's music that ProjectClash likes, music that dhyce likes, music that bluezy likes, and so on. A single person's opinion is not the ultimate authority in the universe.Let me tell ya a little something about Oasis, they ALWAYS SUCKED. People were idiots to be into them. They suck now they sucked way back in 97. It's just people are too stupid to know good music, plain and simple, nothing complicated about it, a PERSON is smart, the collective whole of humans is stupidity at it's finest so the masses like spoon fed crap that's easy to listen to and catchy. BINGO OASIS to a tee.

[QUOTE="MaxPred2010"]Indie nerds, SHUT UP. No one cares about your "underground" pretentious ****.lazerface216
then go stick with your boring, unoriginal, watered down billboard top 40 garbage and quit crying...
Who's crying? Like we don't have enough people who think they're original by hating what's popular?but think about it....can u name 40 bands from the 50, 60, 70, 80, 90s for each era.....meaning 200 bands.....that were good enough then to listen to now? i doubt it....im not defending modern pop music by any means....i think its terrible....but out of all the memorable bands mentioned on here.....i havnt seen more then 20 or 30 mentioned......which is pretty said with 50 years of history...
ever seen someone drive a vintage car? you can always listen to to old songs you know,There are no more good quality artists from the 60s,70s,80s or 90s.Check out which artists we have now like Bieber,Miley Cyrus,Jonas Brothers. They are all useless and overated artists. Before we had Elvis,The Beatles,Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson to name a few.
Now we have to rely on Lady Gaga which is decent at best. The only modern artists right now that I actually like is Beyonce and Alicia Keys. The sign of artists getting popular because of Youtube is a sign that music is dead.

You have the inter-nets, with this amazing tool you can feed yourself the music you want. You just gotta hunt it down.

Who's crying? Like we don't have enough people who think they're original by hating what's popular?you're the one crying, crying about people liking music that doesn't sound like everything else, calling it "underground pretentious *****". there's nothing wrong with liking popular music, there's plenty of popular music that i can get into but to call people pretentious for listening or preferring music that's not mainstream is lame.

I love the music of the only three musicians/bands that I've liked the past decade or so: Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, and John Mayer. And hey, Pearl Jam is still alive =][QUOTE="MaxPred2010"][QUOTE="lazerface216"]

And quite asinine. Actually, most indie music is good, decent at worst, I just don't love it. My bro is an indie musician though.I'd tell you to dig real deep. But digging is so boring.Wilfred_Owen
just nasty. unlike doom, grimm is more on the serious tip, which i like.
also, that beat is so hypnotizing.
Same could be done for music of today. It's simply ignorant to think that music from the past is somehow better than music of today. Just because it isn't played on MTV doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Is it not ignorant of you to suggest that I only listen to music that is shown on mtv? You have no damn clue of my music listening habits.... ...what? I'm saying that the mainstream doesn't represent ALL music.[QUOTE="Osaka-06"][QUOTE="racer8dan"]Yes, and I could add to that list for a very long time.

It's not dead, it's just that you are not searching very well. Look underground, there are many good artists down there. For some reason when they go mainstream, they get this ego and think they could do whatever they want.
well i agree on some level it's what sells........sex drugs and heartache sells what sold years ago......the same thing..........i bet you your parents hated all the music you listened to and yes fans are making dumb choices on music (hides my sig)......but on some level i'd rather listen to tokio hotel the listen to someone talk about in love with a booty or pretty boy swag or some guy named fernando or ajehandro...and a girl claiming she can't be tamedMusic is certainly dying yes. BUt it's little brats like your fault and others who purchase the said crappy music that is being mass distributed.
Its the FANS fault music is dying. Kids are too stupid today to know good music with their crappy mop hair cuts and Fallout Boy. Grow some taste you ****

Thing is the free market is not nearly as much about what the consumer wants as people think. Its also who and how distrubution is controlled.
Classic example is the story of Led Zeplin. AM radio which was mainstream at the time didn want to touch them here in the states. FM radio which was new and not controlled by very large companies would play them. The rest is history so to speak.
understandable.....but point being AM was popular right?..then Led Zepplin was being played on FM. Then when Led Zeplin got big...(i am assuming but..) Fm became popluar? now it may or not of been because of Led Zeplin but the point i'm trying to make is that music is just a i'm better than you are battle and the few that don't get shuned....another thing is free market..well thats a very good point, thats up to the band or individual and how they want to sell i hate this but.....AFI was a good band (listen to any of there oldies and you'd be amazed.......give davey make-up and he sellsI will just leave this here....
and this....
I love you for posting Black Mountain. Wucan is my favorite by them. :)The point I am making might be only in part to what you are saying. My point is that if it wasnt for FM radio starting out exactly as they did its highly likely Led Zepplin would not have ever gotten any sales of records in the US at all becuase nobody would have known of them.
I am convinced that the 70's was the best decade for music not becuase the music was better but becuase of the birth of FM radio and how experimental they allowed themselves be with content.
Today, outside of the internet, music media is highly controlled and not many mainstream risk takers, leaving you with your web browsers to find the good stuff,

But even in the 70s there were limitations to what you could find. The music business DID give the music out to the FM radio stations to play. LZ wasn't indie by any means.

now i'm seeing a little better but can i ask did you grow up inthe 70's i grew up in 90's/00's so maybe thats why i think that you grew up with the times of the 70's so music related better now some music of today may not adress any problems it's called mainstream(well some anywayz)Please Log In to post.
