I want some new rap artists to listen to. I currently enjoy:

Eminem

Kid Cudi

T.I.

Kanye West

Drake

Select Lil Wayne (Lollipop, Steady Mobbin)

Asher Roth

B.O.B

Wiz Khalifa

Hollywood Undead

50 Cent

Being able to understand the lyrics is very important to me as well as having meaningful lyrics. I don't like songs that are overly sexual but that doesn't mean one or two bothers me.It would also be a nice thing if the artists had mixtapes so I could "try before I buy". I also like heavy beats. Thanks in advance.

Lupe Fiasco, his latest album Lasers is amazing. Literally every single track on it is epic.

If you check Lupe, make sure you check out Food and Liquor and The Cool as well. Also, check out a Canadian artist named k-Os. He does more than just rap. He sings, too, and his music encompasses rock and roll, reggae, hip hop and jazz elements.

Dude if you like some sick, chill beats with a NASTY flow check out Curren$y. He only has like 3 studio albums so you have to get his mixtapes which he makes 1 a month. He's affiliated with Wiz but they are completely different. songs to look up by him: Scottie Pippens Sail On King Kong Roasted (that's a good start)

Oh god... Kreayshawn... Gucci Gucci was actually pretty catchy, and had a nice beat, but just about everything else that I checked out from her has been horribly annoying.

2Pac is always great to listen to. His songs are so deep and full of soul. I always recommend him to anyone interested in some good rap.

Well I assume mainstream is your favorite so check out Tech N9ne. Probably the best mainstream artist bar none, well he's not really full on mainstream though.

God, I could sit here and name so many artists to check out.

Anyway, seeing how you listed newer and mostly (somewhat) mainstream rappers, i'll list some of the better ones.

Big Sean, his new album Finally famous is really good.

Tayyib Ali, his mixtape Keystone State of Mind is one of the best of the year so far.

Someone already mentioned Lupe Fiasco, yeah he's great.

The Dean's List is probly one of my top 3 favorite groups this year, try their mixtape The Drive-In.

Mac Miller has some good s*** too.

These are all pretty good somewhat mainstream rappers. If you're interested though there's many, many more really special hip-hop artists around right now. Dip you foot in the pool before you jump in.

If you want more recommendations, PM me.

Disappointed there's no mention of CunniLynguists (or their producer, Kno). A rap group with a bunch of exceptionally talented dudes. Oneirology and Death is Silent are two of the better albums of the last 2 years.

I would've mentioned them but I figured some people might be getting tired of seeing me bring them up every single time a hip-hop thread pops up :P

But yeah, I definitely second this recommendation. You can even stream their new album for free on their website and it's awesome.
