Sorry to hear that man...I know how it is. Do not be sad, it will be ok. I've been through situations like this a thousand times unfortunately.. you willget tougher in the future, and that's the only thing that's going to be affected on you.

I know where you're coming from. Growing up, I had an extremely abusive father. He use to hit us and my mom all the time when he was drunk, they'd even go after eachother with golf clubs, knives and hammers etc... Cops had to be called multiple times.

Honestly, I think if your dad is in such a violent state, he needs help. A family should never feel obligated to protect someone that is physically or emotionally abusive. The best thing for him is to call the police, let them cool him down instead of taking the risk of trying to cool him down yourselves.

You are right.. second and third chances never work. I'm 15 now and I've seen many things that I wish I hadn't. TC, be strong and not give up. It will be ok. You will learn many thins from it. Be sure you won't treat your future family like this.

Suggest to your mom that she either split up with him or at least have him get proffessional help, or both. Try to stay out of this though because trust me, your involvement will only complicate things....

The divorce I endured wasn't THAT bad, because I hated my dad and thankfully my stepmom got custody of me as my dad's getting thrown in jail was the cause of the divorce....

A second chance worked for my parents. There wasn't any violence and their situation was quite a bit different. My father was working crazy overtime, like 60-80 hours a week. My mother ended up getting hooked on coke. She quit paying bills, ran up credit cards and spent every penny they had even the Tax return check that had recently received. After spending all the money she ran off with the drug dealer for a few weeks. My father took her back when she came back and the stayed together until she died 12 years or so later. He remarried only like 4 months after she died, but that's another story :P
