I have REALLY, REALLY bad eyesight (I can't read a book unless it's stuck in my face :P) - I wear both glasses and contacts, though I've only been wearing contacts for the past 3 months. Glasses, for the past 10 years.
I walked around blind for about 3 years, hating the nosepeice of all glasses and nearly everyhting about glasses. Just recently though I got contacts. Takes a bit of practice to get in and out of your eye smoothly, but it's worth it, and not nearly as annoying as some people say.
