[QUOTE="MoonMarvel"][QUOTE="duxup"] Depends on what loopholes you close and how / where the taxes get paid. Some of the largest companies in this nation pay 0 dollars in taxes. Too high taxes is an issue, but none is also an issue.duxup
Any loophole the allows them to pay less then the rate. If the rate is 40% under Obama thats what they pay. And I believe it's a tax rate on their revenue....I am sure they pay taxes even in the red.

Companies don't pay zero dollars in taxes due to just one loophole. There is a whole tax system that they maneuver thru and around. It is not an all or nothing system.

Excuse me? I said any loophole, that would imply more than one. Basically anything that allows them to pay less than the rate.

[QUOTE="hokies1313"]Oh, and we should give bonuses to foreign companies that create jobs in the United States, such as asian car companies that have planets in the U.S. We need to encourage that.Sajo7
That would be one hell of a bonus.

Well they would need some sort of incentive to come to the U.S., I think tax breaks and other things that would bring foreign companies to the United States to create jobs would be a good thing.

Yeah the war is doing wonders to create jobs right now. I dont think a day has gone by where I have not heard of some company laying off a bunch of people. I wonder when my time will come. I hope soon.

Closing "loopholes" does mean companies must pay the maximum tax rate. Unless the corporate tax law was completely rewritten with one page simply identifying the tax rate nobody will end up paying the max tax rate the rate they'll pay will be less than the meaningless corporate tax rate people reference for rhetorical purposes.

Sure it would, but I am very skeptical about how effetive that would be. China plays a very crucial role for Asian companies. They have a large unskilled labor force perfect for final assembly of just about any product you can manufacture.

Worked during the great depression.MoonMarvel
Thats because you had literally every industry contributing to the war effort. You had frigging auto factories converted into tank and plane factories, just one example. Its not the same now...

yeah, that makes sense, have a bunch of people die so that other people can have jobs. Genious. Why didn't I think of that.

It created a billion dollar mercenary/"private war" (or "soldiers for hire") industry, not to mention the fear and panic caused "back home" that lead to an increase in sales in things such as guns, gas masks/biological warfare protection, bomb shelters and all those sorts of cold war-era type essentials.

I wouldn't say it is essential, though.

Though the question was about jobs... so, I don't know. Most of those people already had jobs in private security. They just took it overseas. Perhaps that opened up a new private security market in America ("at home").
