This is barely hip hop. Clearly it's influenced, but this is no different from mainstream pop and even mainstream R&B. Hip Hop being "dead" ( ) has nothing to do with it.

Hip Hop is dead and rap killed it. It's rap you see on the mainstream charts, not hip hop. Rap is mainly about shooting people, fu**ing b**ches and having money. Hip Hop is mainly about surviving in harsh enviroments, word juggling and uplifting its people. Krs ONE had a great rhyme about this, look it up or something :P

Exactly. The thing is some people think Rap is all it is too HipHop. I grew up in the Bronx and I know what HipHop is.

Also I might add this. Rap went wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy down hill when the South got into the game. Thats my opinion though.

If one song represents all music for an entire generation for you, then your exposure to music must be extremely limited. Time to turn of the MTV.

Good music still exists, you just have to hunt for it, but you may like what you find. I've recently gotten into The Pinkmountaintops and Black Mountain (they are sister bands so to say). I think my parents find it strange that I listen to THEIR music though. :P It will deffinatley be weird when I am in my 30's going man, Pink Floyd is now 75 years old. O_O

Mos Def, Common, Lupe Fiasco, SOME Kanye West (he has gradually gotten worse over time), Kid Cudi, Nas, SOME Jay-Z, SOME Eminem, KRS One. And thats just a few. And you don't have to only listen to new songs. There are millions of great "old school" rappers.
