Just need to know how strong a case I have for vandalism, if I can prove that he's the one that did it.

Basically, I went to go see one of my girlfriend's yesterday at her apartment. She told me that her Dad was over and I might run into him if I get there at a certain time, so I made sure to show up 15 minutes late. Regardless, he was still leaving just as I got there. We didn't say anything, didn't make eye contact, nothing. Mainly because I have been having problems with this guy because he has a crappy attitude.

Anyway, we hung out at her apartment, she made me dinner, I ****ed her, hung out a little longer, and eventually I went back to my car so I could return home as would inevitably happen.

Well, I didn't notice until this morning, but there is now a "SUPPORT OUR TROOPS" bumper sticker on my car. He is an avid right winger who is an ex veteran and doesn't like me because he knows that I don't support the troops and have a lot of pacifistic beliefs, and even met his daughter while doing a peaceful protest of the current war.

This is a pain in the ass. I'm going to have to scrape this thing off with a razor blade, because it won't peel off. I had to buy a blank bumper sticker and write "I DO NOT" just to paste in front of the sticker he put there so I could drive around without people thinking I'm an idiot. For one, buying that modification sticker cost me money, and now it's going to cost me labor to get both stickers off. To make matters worse, I might wind up scratching the paint on my car while I do this.

Anyway, is there any way I can sue him for vandalizing my car? He put something on it that I did not want, and I'm thinking maybe I can get his fingerprints on it.

It sounds like you got off easier than you would have if I were him. The trial would probably be more trouble than it would be worth and it would just piss off her family. Don't make her parents hate you. (Also, you don't sound stupid just because you say that you support the troops.)

Oh, so breaking the law is okay to do if you disagree with someone's beliefs.

Gotcha...

Even if you could prove it the court would just throw out your case for being frivilous since there's no way your "damages" add up to anything significant. The bumper sticker you bought wouldn't even count since that was unnecessary. Now if he had keyed your car, flattened your tires, or smashed a window, THEN you'd have a reason to go to court.

edit: LOL, just noticed the part where you said "one of my girlfriend's". I don't blame the father for hating you now.

It's a bumper sticker. I mean, if he had spray painted something on the side or set it on fire, then it would be worth pursuing.

take that sucka to judge mathis. That show is funny, but seriously I do believe you have a case, just take him to court, and make him admit it. If he doesn't admit it, try and show the judge the connection between you plowing his daughter, and him supporting the troops, and im sure you will win for reasonable doubt.

Hey, it's the US, where you can sue for tripping on a sidewalk where the blocks are more than a millimeter different in height. Why not sue for a bumper sticker?

The extra sticker was definitely necessary lol. And it's not like my girlfriend or her dad know about my other girlfriends, so that wouldn't give him a reason to dislike me.

Make sure to mention your multiple girlfriends, exactly what positions you used, that you hate the soldiers, and that he probably owns several guns. That's a brilliant idea.

Even with the more lax burden of proof, if you didn't see him do it, then you probably won't win. Even then, how much is the damage to the car?

Courts will throw out a case if the damages are less than $20. Actually the minimum amount may be even larger than that. This, of course, ignores the fact that you need to pay legal fees (especially if you get a lawyer) which would pretty much not only render pursuing such a case moot, but would probably even cost the OP money even if he won since.

There are so many things wrong with what your saying its down right idiotic.

Sueing over a bumper sticker which you have no proof of who put it there is ridiculous, did you ever think of just asking him if he put the bumper sticker there or not?

You are also a jerk and not a very good person seeing as your cheating on your girlfriend and other women as well. Finally your that petty that you put i do not support the troops on your car. For some reason i don't think you jsut disagree with the fathers views but also did your best to tell him how stupid he was for supporting the war.

If this is a joke thread which is what am have been suspecting have fun.

No British people sue others as well, but we also don't feel the need to solve every petty little thing with a lawsuit. Scalian does not need to bring the man to justice because this is barely even a crime, in fact I'm not sure it even is. The only act of vandalism more insignificant than this would be if somebody spit their chewing gum out and it landed on his car. He needs to realise that, as crazy as it might sound, you can actually solve arguments with words *SHOCK* and talking to her Dad and asking him to apologise for what he's done would be a much more sensible thing to do than pressing legal charges. And anyway, I posted a link there, he'll be able to get that thing off in under a minute.

Well he is the one who started it. He knows she met me a protest and right when I met him he was a douche. I tried being nice and he just would bring up how amazing vets were and all that. Made me sick. Also, his daughter is 19 (aka an adult who can make her own decisions) and, as mentioned previously, is also quite the pacificist. He shouldn't be surprised that we are together.

He's being a big crybaby about it by putting the sticker on my car.

The extra sticker was definitely necessary lol. And it's not like my girlfriend or her dad know about my other girlfriends, so that wouldn't give him a reason to dislike me.

Photobucket seriously..

Obama speaks the truth.

Though it does kind of make one wonder if you see the irony of saying that other people have a "crappy attitude" when you cheat on your so-called girlfriends.

Perfect solution, slap a bumper sticker on his car that are totally opposite to his views,
