You hate him and you're screwing his daughter. No reason for him to dislike him at all. Really, you sound like the jerk in this situation. You're a jerk to your girlfriend's dad, you're cheating on your girlfriend, you're having sex with the daughter of someone who hates you, and you had to say that you hate soldiers.

Scalien26

Well he is the one who started it. He knows she met me a protest and right when I met him he was a douche. I tried being nice and he just would bring up how amazing vets were and all that. Made me sick. Also, his daughter is 19 (aka an adult who can make her own decisions) and, as mentioned previously, is also quite the pacificist. He shouldn't be surprised that we are together.

He's being a big crybaby about it by putting the sticker on my car.

You are the one being a crybaby by wanting to sue someone over a **** bumpersticker. I mean come on man.

Put a pro-abortion sticker on his car.

RearNakedChoke
Or maybe he should just super glue a plastic baby to the hood. Either way, there are ways to have fun with this. Getting irritated and suing him seems stupid to me.

Even if you could prove it the court would just throw out your case for being frivilous since there's no way your "damages" add up to anything significant. The bumper sticker you bought wouldn't even count since that was unnecessary. Now if he had keyed your car, flattened your tires, or smashed a window, THEN you'd have a reason to go to court.

edit: LOL, just noticed the part where you said "one of my girlfriend's". I don't blame the father for hating you now.

StopThePresses

The extra sticker was definitely necessary lol. And it's not like my girlfriend or her dad know about my other girlfriends, so that wouldn't give him a reason to dislike me.

Though it does kind of make one wonder if you see the irony of saying that other people have a "crappy attitude" when you cheat on your so-called girlfriends.

I never want to live in a world in which a man can't have several lady friends.

I find that to be a really childish move by him, I would confront him and if he doesn't admit it, take him to court for all he has.

Not going to comment on your life...

Just here to offer a hint.

Use a hairdryer on the bumper sticker. It will loosen up the glue underneath making it much easier to peel off without damaging the car.

*Assuming this isn't a joke*

The father overstepped, but suing him for such a frivolous act of immaturity is absurd. Could you get something out of it? Probably. Should you make an ass out of yourself and try? Your decision.

As a side note, soldiers are just doing their job, a dangerous job at that. They were sent without being asked their opinion on the war and without being asked whether or not they would like to go. You should take up your disagreement with the people behind starting the war. To take it to the troops that are just doing their job is out of place, irrational, and unjust.

Support out troops.

Which, by the way, doesn't mean you have support what their orders entail.

*Assuming this is a joke*

Don't you have something better to do?

Just need to know how strong a case I have for vandalism, if I can prove that he's the one that did it.

Basically, I went to go see one of my girlfriend's yesterday at her apartment. She told me that her Dad was over and I might run into him if I get there at a certain time, so I made sure to show up 15 minutes late. Regardless, he was still leaving just as I got there. We didn't say anything, didn't make eye contact, nothing. Mainly because I have been having problems with this guy because he has a crappy attitude.

Anyway, we hung out at her apartment, she made me dinner, I ****ed her, hung out a little longer, and eventually I went back to my car so I could return home as would inevitably happen.

Well, I didn't notice until this morning, but there is now a "SUPPORT OUR TROOPS" bumper sticker on my car. He is an avid right winger who is an ex veteran and doesn't like me because he knows that I don't support the troops and have a lot of pacifistic beliefs, and even met his daughter while doing a peaceful protest of the current war.

This is a pain in the ass. I'm going to have to scrape this thing off with a razor blade, because it won't peel off. I had to buy a blank bumper sticker and write "I DO NOT" just to paste in front of the sticker he put there so I could drive around without people thinking I'm an idiot. For one, buying that modification sticker cost me money, and now it's going to cost me labor to get both stickers off. To make matters worse, I might wind up scratching the paint on my car while I do this.

Anyway, is there any way I can sue him for vandalizing my car? He put something on it that I did not want, and I'm thinking maybe I can get his fingerprints on it.

Scalien26

You've got to be kidding. If you attempt to take this to court, you'll be laughed at. Trying to get damages for something that could be easily fixed in a minute? Honestly? I suspect a joke thread but will post anyway.

Anyhow, do you have proof he's the one who put it on your bumper? I had a similar situation not just a few months ago. My dad started up a grassroots movement to get water meters upcountry where we live so we can subdivide a 3 acre lot into 3 parcels, vastly increasing the value of the property. I went out to my car one day and saw a bumper sticker advocating something to do with water, and immediately assumed it was my dad. Turned out it was someone who worked where my brother-in-law did who was trying to promote his upstart business. Things are not always what they appear, and if you have no proof you're simply acting under assumptions, which is not a smart thing to do, especially if you're going to make it into a legal matter.

You also shouldn't have added anything to the sticker, as putting "I do not support the troops" is going to attract far more negative attention than the alternative. Get the end ofit up with a razor, and use nail polish remover from then on. It should come off with no trouble. After that, let it lie. Trying to take it to court is ridiculous.

If it won't peel off, why didn't you just put the blank bumper sticker over the other one and then color the blank one to match the color of your car?

Well you made a few mistakes:

1- Not getting on the Dad`s good side

2- Trying to sue your "girlfriend" father over something so petty.

I might not agree with certain wars, but i still respect the veterans very much.

There are so many things wrong with what your saying its down right idiotic.

Sueing over a bumper sticker which you have no proof of who put it there is ridiculous, did you ever think of just asking him if he put the bumper sticker there or not?

You are also a jerk and not a very good person seeing as your cheating on your girlfriend and other women as well. Finally your that petty that you put i do not support the troops on your car. For some reason i don't think you jsut disagree with the fathers views but also did your best to tell him how stupid he was for supporting the war.

If this is a joke thread which is what am have been suspecting have fun.

The troops willingly sign up to go fight these senseless wars don't they? Yeah, no. I don't have any respect for them. I've seen videos of soliders taunting kids with water, you have stuff like Abu Ghraib, and I've seen videos where soldiers have bragged about getting headshots (when they were shooting innocent civilians, but they thought they were shooting terrorists).

Yeah, they don't have my support at all.

That's besides the point of this topic though. I love how everyone is calling me a "douche" or a "dick" when i tried being nice to the guy. He's been an ass ever since he knew I didn't support the war and he's held a grudge against me since. And why is everyone brining up the fact that I'm having sex with his daughter? Are dads supposed to automatically hate their daughter's boyfriends? None of my other girlfriend's dads hate me.

Anyway, I think I'll confront him in a few days about the whole situation when I head back over there. I mean, I don't have 100% proof that he did it, but I live in San Francisco which is notoriously liberal and no one else in the parking lot has a 'Support the Troops' sticker from what I recall. I'll make a topic updating you all about the situation after I talk to him.
