My ipods screen died. Questions on Apple policies

Alright, my ipod still plays but I now lack a screen. I am curious if anyone knows if I can just send it in to apple to get it fixed or get a new ipod. I gotta look at the site but first I wanna find my reciept and check out my warranty.

I have only had it for a year or two and I didn't drop it or anything to cause it to break. I literally put it in my pocket, waked into my house, then I took it out to find the screen dead. It looks like a part actually caught on fire somehow (I had only had it on for a half-hour during my ride home) and I can hear something loose inside.

dude that just happened to me, my iod just froze up, i have an ipod video and it just froze, i could not do anything on it. :(

Try resetting the ipod by holding the menu button and the middle button for a bit. Mine froze up alot but that always fixed it.

Any idea on how much it would cost and do I need to send it in to apple or should I take it to the best buy I got it from?

Bring it in to one of the Apple stores, they're good about that kind of thing and probably won't even ask to see your receipt, they'll just give a new one right there in exchange for your busted one. Or at least that's what i've been told by a few people, i don't know why they would have lied about that though.

If it's the same policy across all products, then the 90 day thing is for phone support.

Definitely not my fault. It broke in my pocket during an uneventfull 30 second walk from my car into my house.....
