So, my sister, who is activley feminist, comes on the other day spouting how there are ancient prehistorical documents that show tribes were matriarchal then went to patriarchal. Now, can anyone spot the logical flaw in her argument??

Wow and even w/o the "prehistorical" documents...uh who's bigger and stronger by nature?...men...so if a women said "I'm leader is anyone willing to dispute?" probly every male would be able to dethrone her/beat her down/take over. From an evolutionary standpoint, yes, men are stronger and they are providers and the women are the caregivers and nurturers. One residual trait that you can see in school is how boys and girls carry their books. Boys carry them down by their side (like a spear) and girls carry them up close to their bodies (like a baby), however many pre-Christian religions were centered on earth worship and women played a larger role in society. This has been found even in pre-history through sculptures (like the Venus of Willendorf, although the true meaning of it is debatable) and wall paintings. Google the subject and there is plenty of info on it that is not feminist based and if you want to be sure of that just make sure it's written by a man. :)

I'm not a feminist (I actually think a lot of them are so over the top they're stupid, but some are brilliant), but I studied a lot of this stuff in college in taking art and psych classes. Your sister has her points, but she needs to get her facts straight. :)
