proof of water being alive: It doesn't bubble or the top of glasses and reacts to cold differently than other liquids.

Where did water evolve from?EntropyWins
The combination of hydrogen and oxygen molecules that formed as a result of the big bang. Our planet happened to contain large quantities of both. Granted there is a tonne more science behind it, but I really cbf to explain :P

Drakes_Fortune

I agree. I don't even pay for water anymore. I bought a bottle of water back in 1998, and ever since then I've been breeding my own water.

Little known fact: put two water molecules together, and they'll soon produce lots of baby water molecules. Within a single year, you can turn an ounce of water into 10 thousand gallons of water. Water reproduces so quickly because it's such a simple organism.

That must involve some rather heated copulation.

not much of a theory without evidence. and what is this even based on? I would hardly even call it a hypothesis.

Silicon isn't that good for living processes. Its atomic bindings are so strong that exchanges require too much energy.

Why? D:

Here goes the answer (and the religous/atheist troll discussion). As much as this theory is flawed, Jonhy_rock tries to tell that christianity has pretty much no base over their claims. Yes the bible says how it was created, but there is pretty much NOTHING else to support their claims..

Because some people like bragging that they know the truth while being douches. But there is also the fact that some people take the bible LITERALLY and do believe that the whole universe and plants were made in 144 hours...

This. All living things have carbon. Water does not. Water is not alive.

not true. what about those cells that were found that weren't carbon based? i can't remember what the base was off the top of my head but it wasn't carbon.

while carbon is arguably the best base for life, it's not neccessarly the only one. altough i agree the tc's idea of water being alive is just stupid.

tbh off the top of my head, being a double major in chem/bio, a good base could potentially be silicon.
