The company i work for does international business. They hang up the flags of the countries we do business with in a long entrance hallway. Saudi Arabia is the newest client so they put their flag up this morning. Not two hours later that flag was pulled down do to worker's complaints; we did not like the image of the sword on the flag, and especially the motto, which states " There is no God but Allah, Muhammed is his prophet."

I was actually proud that my company took this action. What is your reaction?

OH NO A SWORD ON A FLAG? WHAT SHALL WE EVER DO? Let's take it down so it doesn't injury anybody. That is one of the stupidest things I have heard all day.

With any luck, this will result in your company losing whatever contracts you have with Saudi-based businesses Of all the problems one could have with SA, and there are a lot, the content of the flag is about the most howl at the moon moronic one imaginable.

"There is no God but Allah" is pretty funny considering they're still referring to the cIassic Judeo-Christian Yahweh. Christians, Muslims, and Jewish people all believe in the same God. The prophet thing is a different story, but it's the same damned God.

Your company should accept that the countries you do business with may have different beliefs. That's just not good business. Perfect example of the need for separation of church and state. Good luck with your new client.

The Constitutional Amendment that deals with the freedom of religion and speech does not apply to a situation involving a flag representing a country being taken down because it "offends" people in a religious context? I don't know about you, but that seems directly applicable.

I seem to recall Citizens United v. FEC dealing directly with private businesses and the first amendment.

Yay for misinterpretation of context. I said the First Amendment was crying, out of the case of disrespect for another religion on US soil. Sorry I didn't put it in legalese for you Mr. Lawyer.

Constitutional Rights are given from the government. Private enterprises do not have to give you those rights. Hence GS had a tight control on speech.

Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, 558 U.S. 08-205 (2010), 558 U.S. ––––, 130 S.Ct. 876 (January 21, 2010), was a landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court holding that the First Amendment prohibits government from placing limits on independent spending for political purposes by corporations and unions

I started picturing you as David Fincher.

Q: So did he actually try and call "cut"?
Fincher: No, he tried to f*cking wrap before we'd shoot stuff.
Q: Like at the end of the day, call "Wrap"?
Fincher: Yeah, like, "Okay, it's 6 pm and we need to get out of here."
Q: So what would you say?
Fincher: "There's no point in trying to force it before it's done. It's a guy in a rubber suit. If it looks like a guy in a rubber suit, we're f*cked."
Q: And you'd say it in that calm tone of voice?
Fincher: Absolutely. Constantly. That's one of my most irritating qualities.

They hang all the flags from the countries relationships.. If they are THAT bothered by a Islamic message, shouldn't they be even MORE bothered by supporting in business venture a country that is EXTREME Islamic monarchy... At least to me that screams hypocrite.

Did anybody here even ask what type of business this is? He was kinda vague on that. I guess it depends on the type of business and if the employees even want to do business with them...Could be an employee reaction to them not wanting to do business with them and had no choice.

If your company's so ashamed of doing business with SA that they decided to exclude them from a "celebration" (of sorts) which they normally do for every other country they do business with, why do business with them at all.
