Fall under the radar here on OT.. I see so many people talk about abortions, taxes.. ect... Same topics over and over.. I feel like there's a lot of other important issues that we are scanning over.. So in this thread, name what issues are being overlooked, and what makes them so important.. Maybe we can start a fresh political disscusion.. Though, somebody will probably mention abortion within the first page.. and religion will pop up somewhere I'm sure. If you aren't from the U.S .. Feel free to name whatever problems in your current country.

For me, I think it's how we as a country should start informing people and educating instead of creating restrictions.. Many people are educated and informaed.. but not enough.. I feel this would be a huge stepping stone.. Just inform the public greatly with the truth, and encourage education, but don't force it ( adult years).

Campaign Finance Reform is one that gets a little discussion but not what it warrants, IMO. It indirectly influences virtually all other political topics.

The difference in spending on some school districts vs. others.

Some inner city schools are basically creating thugs because they're so underfunded they never give those kids a chance to do decently in the world.

I think we really need to get some morals back in this country. It seems like money rules everything and nothing is off the table. People need to start really parenting again, helping strangers, getting to know your neighbors, stuff like that.

One of the biggest problems is that states like California and Texas are being bled dry by the feds while freeloader states like mississippi and alabama take about twice as much as they pay in.

On top of the campaign finance reform which has already been mentioned the subject of infrastructure doesn't come up very often aside from the rather shallow "Without taxes how do we get roads?" that occasionally comes up. Considering how important infrastructure is it's almost never discussed in depth. It is rather boring though which is why you don't see me making a big fuss bout it.

There are some good topics here, Campaign Finance Reform is a huge one, and unfortunately a topic that isn't widely discussed except on the fringes here and there.

Other than that I would say National Debt, both in the US and abroad.  Its not a US centric issue.

the repeal of Glass-Steagal, and the need to reinstate it. Have to assume it doesn't get much attention because specific regulations for Wall Street/banks don't get much coverage. Also possibly because it was a big fvck up for Bill Clinton.

Yep, our infrastructure is crumbling like crazy while we spend hundreds of billions of dollars overseas and on the military.

Yep. The roads around my area are 3rd world country quality. And the metro system is unreliable as hell - breaks down all the time and is plagued with delays. And this is in one of the wealthiest areas of the country. Storm drains overflow all the time because they are above capacity, and water mains break because they were built in the 50s.

I admit my city is basically built over a bayou, but still... when a really hard rain comes and lasts a long time, the storm drains get so much pressure on them that water starts shooting out of them as if we were built on top of Yosemite.
