Well until Season 5 of Shippuden. What made it good is you had warfare adults, militia and stuff. And the kids were growing up. Then Season 5 came and all the stories about pain, loss, sacrifice and unglorious stuff about war just became.. meh just became like super hero balzing in with super powers, while before it wasnt so easy, like the world was beliavable and then they did... this?

Not sure about you but that killed it for me. I liked it for the story so i am not sure if this was made to sell merch but i just hated that they did that to me, not sure if it was made to appeal to nerds, so i felt like i saw a trap series in a sense. It was what made me go into anime, but i dunno what do you think. I still consider it a good series depite the later stuff.

I liked Naruto. If they didn't include the fillers, Naruto could have been better. I remember the days torrenting the latest episode every weekend, was a big fan of the show. Then came Naruto Shippuden, at that point, I reached my limit of following the show, it was dragging on that I lost the interest in the entire series. The best part of Shippuden was Naruto and Sasuke first reunion, there was so much hype back then.

@uninspiredcup: Ohh yes. Dragonball and Pokemon were the real deal back in the day. Literally, every kid was talking about it.

@rogn:

I *enjoyed* Naruto but it was never really much of a favorite. At one point though, it almost got as good as Dragonball Z but then Shitpooden killed it.

Naruto was good, Full Metal Alchemist (the original anime) was far far superiour.

Naruto's character building was really great though, they definitely had some magic in the first several seasons.

I like Naruto but there are better. Like Yu Yu Hakisho, Inyasha, Cowboy Bebop, Food Wars, and One Punch Man. But yeah Naruto is a good start to good anime.

@rogn: I love Naruto! Been loving it since when I was very small (now 23). I don't really watch it critically so I don't have the complaints you have. It's just a show, and I want to enjoy the show.

It was fun for a while and I certainly enjoyed the combat and action segments, but it died off for me for the same reason OP mentioned: eventually everyone relevant is super-powered and there is no need for development or interesting moments.

One pet peeve I have with these type of animes -- the kids continue to progress and grow to elite tier heroes, whereas the adults seem to stagnate and never really develop. Also the lore/background is incredibly weak it seems. Speaking of the TV stuff, though.

No, not even close. It's not even close to being the best manga/anime from Shonen Jump, outclassed by other Shonen Jump works like Kenshin, One Piece, Death Note, etc.
