The people that come along and say different are usually funded by petrol companies, or, are politicians with no knowledge of science also funded by big business.

Not true at all. A lot of them are independent researchers.
A lot of the global warming activists get funded by groups who invest into green energies and whatnot. It's the same crap on both sides.
I'll believe my professors before I believe any of these other groups of people.
My professor was the department leader of geology and earth history and climatology. Him and the entire department basically said that climate change is happening and there is evidence to support that we are helping it along, but the effects are being blown wildly out of proportion just because it makes better news and is easier to sell to people.
It's the same on both sides. If you can't see this after 20 years of global warming activists constantly changing their own statistics and predictions year after year, I don't think there will be any convincing you. They went from the world being underwater as early as 2015 back in the 90s to now that it will take a century or more. It's pure hype. People know they can get attention from activist groups by making sweeping statements and extremely loose connections through studies, all of which are never totally replicated by other groups.
Could you name a few independent researchers that claim man made global warming doesnt exist?
Nobody says it "doesn't exist" as much as they say the impacts and cycles are nothing like what some would have you believe. It's pretty much accepted in science that our climate changes. By what causes and by how much is what's up for debate.
