Yay or nay?

Lol. They need to remove the left turn only tracks and stop useing cars that aren't even an attempt at progression in technology, then maybe.Throw a ball in the race track and it will be considered a sport.
ThePerro
Of course.
The term "sport" encompasses a lot of things that we don't immediately spring to mind when you think of the word sport. Nascar is actually on the higher end of those, since it's at least competitive.
So, does that mean that every time I drive my car, I am actually playing a sport?
My bench test for if something is a sport is this. If an old fat guy can do it, it's not a sport.
Yes because driving your car to the store is the same as competing on a racetrack in a racecar. So, does that mean that every time I drive my car, I am actually playing a sport?

I didn't say I was a pro :P
I would consider it a sport for 2 reasons.
1. Its concept is like horse racing (though with cars), which is a sport.
2. It requires endurance. Your stuck in a car for hours that was not meant for comfort, and any small mistake could cost you the race and your life.

Yep. Not to mention extreme heat inside the car, race car drivers are some of the most fit people in any sport. There's a video of Shaq taking a few laps around a track and he was dead tired after a short while so that's probably saying something.
I was looking on Yotube and I stumbled across this guy saying that Nascar isn't a sport. I don't agree with him at all. By definition Nascar is a sport, and it's crazy to compare the skill of bowling to people who drive cars 200+ mph. So yea, I think it's a sport.
Here's the video:

no, because no physical (you get the point) is needed.
By your logic, baseball and football aren't sports. If old fat guys can do it....... Along with the group.....it's a sport, but not one I like to watchSo, does that mean that every time I drive my car, I am actually playing a sport?

It is definitely a sport, by every meaning of the word. It demands extreme athletic ability, competitive spirit, as well as imanse skill and talent to make it to the highest levels of automotive racing, and thus completely deserves such a title.
they do because not every track they race on is left turns. Nascar has teams, offense (points), and defense. Whoever has the most points at the end of the year, wins the Championship. It also takes some skill as well. Its a Sport. If they start doing something besides make left turns then it can be a sport.

With how much those cars weight, I say, make them out of carbon fiber/aluminum and give them an interior and air conditioning, or, just grab a Nissan GT-R tune it to 800 somethin' horsepower, give it a bigger fuel tank, and go =)I don't care what the "official" definition of a sport is.
Nascar, golf, cup-stacking, video-gaming, professional eating, ETC are not sports.
I'm just gonna leave this here:http://www.buzzle.com/articles/nascar-the-drivers-physical-conditioning.html

Yes it is a sport.
-Its tough (yes, you are going to say it isnt but you have obviously no idea and have not even considered the physical and mental endurance required to drive in it)
-It takes very little skill to do but LOADS of skill to be good at.
For example, walking. Everyone can do it but if you took 50 people and tried to see who was better at the end of the day you would have a winner but the margin between the winner and the loser would be small, and it is that margin which takes skill to create.
When you are going at 200mph, within 3 feet of another car and wading in and out of a slipstream which is buffeting your car with immense turbulence, you need lots of skill to keep yourself out of harm's way.
If NASCAR isn't a sport then neither are Formula 1 or rally sports. Personally, it's like pot calling kettle black to me. I have to say that because a lot of times it's fanboys of the latter two who take jabs at NASCAR.
There's no competition in gardening. Unless you and your grandma are going head to head to see who grows the biggest tomatos. :PWhy is hunting considered a sport? Why isn't gardening considered a sport too?
ehhwhatever
It doesn't take muscle to push the accelerate pedal bro.FlintBeefchestYes it does. It took muscle for you to type that. lol
Bro, NASCAR is totally not a sport. Do you see these racers going to the gym everyday to LIFT like me? Hell no! NASCAR DRIVERS DON'T EVEN DO ANYHING. All they do is sit down in a seat and drive in circles for HOURS. It doesn't take muscle to push the accelerate pedal bro.FlintBeefchestYou should totally make a thread about something.
I think the cars can get to be 120 degrees and they are driving around 180 mph for about 5 hours. If that's not a sport then what is?
